Does anyone use the Walbro 813 carb? Thoughts?

Are the fuel line fittings on Walbro carbs able to be turned in a different direction for ease of fuel line fitting?

I would not run the 813

Here is my .02 The 813 is for all out top end only. You will see more RPM but the bottom end suffers to much. They are good if you only run wide open like a drag car or a huge oval. But a MT you want torque. You can dremel on the stock carb rejet and remove choke get about 100 - 200 more revs and still have great low end grunt.

I've run one for a few months now on my TS engine. Haven't noticed that much of a difference to make it worth the extra dough.

What carb would be suited for the MT if ever want to upgrade?
Spend your money on the right pipe and big bore kit the stock carb is good a little dremel polishing on the aircleaner side and remove the choke for more airflow and you will scream.

Please explain how you remove the choke. Does not having the choke make you end up with air leaks from where the choke linkages used to be?

Just remove the butterfly and leave the shaft will help a lot. I have drilled tapped and set screw the shaft hole up before and took it totaly out.

But yeys you will have an air leak if you remove the shaft and don't address the holes somehow. I have seen them glued up before. I wouldn't becuse of the heat and viration if it broke loose it go straight into the motor.

It helps but I am not taking my choke out for the extra power to have to carry around a air filter shield to start my truck. I will just cut on the air intake side of carb and create a velocity effect and leave it alone. If that answers your question. Just depends on how much you want to go fast you can get to the point where it flies . but is just as much work as nitro's.

You all need to look at the BOAT guys they have been tweeking the motors for years. Some of their ideas work and some are to far because they don't have the heat problems with water running thru tubes inside ind things.

I like the 813 carb, I have them on 3 of my LS's and I would never run anything else, the extra fuel squirt when you open the throttle absolutely elininated the low end bog, they are a great carb. Easy to tune.

My 668 crapped out on me last night, so I threw my 813 on there. I could actually notice less low end with it. I run a 30.5cc which definately likes a 668 better since it's a low end engine. I think the 813 is more suited for small cc engines as they're better for top end.

If I was running the moster truck, I'd be investing in a bigger bore head kit.

And here I was thinking that cos they had an accelerator pump they cleared bottom end lag on motors  (especially ported/piped motors) like clubin said and like Sean Oneill informed me when i inquired about one.

boat guys use them to get out the water quick and they get a tiny bit better top end just cos it flows better without the choke...

Sean said overall gain is negligable but it clears the lag...i bought one for my fgbaja..yet to run it cos the postman has eaten the shocks and alloy arms I ordered a month ago.

to say the 813 is for balls out top end is incorrect, if you lost a bit of low end grunt i'd guess it's not set quite right...from what i've heard in all the forums they're a bit of a pig to set up but once they are you should get better bottom end...once I get mine going I'll be able to say first hand what it is like.

have to disagree with everyone here, i run 813's on all my engines and they improve low end & top end. They are less tuner friendly than other carbys

exactly what i said,

I bought one to clear the lag that clubin mentioned, if someone is getting less low down then it's not tuned right.
