Was the difference from a 30.5 cc engine and DDM's 30.5cc engine

Anything modified or ported will be an improvement. DDM has good descriptions on the work done to their motors. The Redcat motor is a 2 bolt with no performance work done on them.

If its a stock DDM 30.5 you won't see any difference. The plating and carb would be higher quality though. There are a few different versions of 30.5 engines that you will see on DDM. Here's what they are:

1) A regular ole stock 2 or 4 bolt 30.5 with a stroker crank and large .040 gasket to accomadate to +2mm stroker crank.

2) A "modified" 30.5 which has machining inside the cylinder to run a regular .020 gasket with the +2mm crank.

3) A ported and modified 30.5 which is like #2 with extra porting done for increased power.

If you are gonna swing for a new engine I'd suggest paying a little extra cash for a 4 bolt. The stock Zenoah 4 bolt lower and upper case are almost perfectly matched. A CY 2 bolt lower case is much different than the gasket and upper case which kills a little power. You need about 30 minutes of dremel work to get them matched up correctly. Another thing you get with the 4 bolt is that they almost never blow head gaskets. 2 bolts blow gaskets much more frequently.

I've watched a you tube video on this. Is the stock HY the same inside? I know it's a copy of the CY. just wondering if it is any worse.
