Truck is brilliant now, all your help and its going great.

Well till the other day. Hit some water and the inevitable happened. Got in reciever box and truck went crazy. Struggled to catch it, and in doing so my mate has a huge bruise on his leg and no skin left on his fingers!!!!!!

Is putting it in a balloon a good idea. don't wanna run it through deep deep puddles, but a bit of resistance to spashes would be good.

Hope you can all help me out again

You can only waterproof for splashes and not really for submerging in water. You can have a go at sealing the servo cable holes in the box with Shoegoo.
Matt.

If you have an FG there will be a seal around the box,if not put some silicon round it..When you put your Ariel tube through and servo wires, put some silicon mastic over the holes. And ,yes, put your receiver in a balloon .I think this will be the best way.Cant guarantee it will be 100% but its not going to be far off.
Good luck.
J.

servos can also be dipped in plasti dip. it's used for tool handles. dip holding the servo lead, let dry, then trim around the gear with an exacto knife. once the servo horn is on it sits tight to the plastic dip. I live in the Lower Rainland on the Wet Coast lol.

balloon also works good for the rx. shoe goo the end of the balloon as well to seal it.

even if the stuff got wet.... open it all up and dry it out. it doesn't always kill it even if you had a runaway... and a kill switch is almost mandatory for these models

with my old 1/10 and 1/8's8 scale i used to seal the radio gear into silacone sealer like you use in bathrooms, the smell does go after a while and makes the r/c water proof and you just trim or cut it away when you want to change the reciever or crystal.i used to think it would cause unit to over heat if sealed, but it nevewr did.....you can put a slodge of it on the top of the ariel tube too.
