hey guys as you probobly know i'm new hear lol....i really want to get a baja but i don't know witch one i wish to get...the original baja rtr, the kit with 26cc engine, the baja rtr2.0, or the baja 5t???advice please!

well it all depends on your budget and what you plan on doing with it. i would personelly go for the ss kit or the 5t. the 5t is newest craze. the ss is nice but you will need to get radio gear if you don't have it and a reciever pack

I came out of 11 years of nitro and picked up a 5T on friday. I've never had the 5B of any version but I sure like the truck. I went through 2 weeks of trying to decide which one also and chose the truck.

Welcome Canuc.

I don't have a 5b ot a 5t, but I do have a Redcat MT, 2 MCD's and a FG MB Pro, 5t is priced very high at this time, if I were you and I had my mind set on one I would buy the 5b SS and upgrade from there. Vertigo makes some real nice hoppups for the Baja, and he is Canadian too. Good luck on your purchase.

Would you be interested in anything other than a HPI 5b/t? Or is that what you have set your mind on?

i would go with thr rtr 2.0 and get a Futaba 3pm 2.4 gig radio with a good kill switch.
the 2.0 has been up dated so it should be pretty good.
Good luck.

hpi baja 5b, 5bss, 5bv2, 5t

mcd EVO3 Monster Truck Sport - 26cc Motor - Ready to Run or Pro Line Baja 1000 Pro Truck - EVO3 Competition - Ready To Run 26cc Motor
or

redcat racing Rampage MT 4X4 Monster Truck

Redcat Rampage, yes, they need a few upgrades, but you will be very happy with it once a few things are done to it..

What type of bashing are you going to do?

Is there a price you know you can't afford?

Do you have a radio system now?

4wd is way different then 2wd.

All of the models run and perform different and ALL of them will need upgrades unless you have the chance to build it from scratch.

The radio systems that come with the RTR's are as cheap as they can make them to make the model affordable. You will need to replace them.

I am going to get the Rampage for my next model, but you didn't ask that.:clown:

i'll probobly be doing just some back yard bashing with a couple of jumps...unless i take it to my local track and take it over there jump...they have a jump built out of a 4x8 piece of plie wood..the thing is huge and made a mess of there 5b when it cartwheeled after hitting the ground lol...

i think i am ok with the money part..as long as it's not more than 17-1800

i know that 4 wheel drive it way diferent than 2

even if i do get a rtr i'll probobly strip it to the frame and rebuild it anyway like i did with my mgt8.0

on the web site that i posted in my last post they have the option when you buy the vehicle to upgrade to any radio you want....i like this as i want a spectrum any way so i would just get one included with it....cause i don't have one yet lol

Your list in US $:

Overall bashing and jumps = HPI Baja.
I would go for the SS that way you can add your radio and stuff. $900.00 for the kit, $200 radio, $100 extras. That's $1200.00 and gives you $200 for extras.

Overall 4wd? I don't have one, yet. I'm thinking that the Redcat is the way to go.
You can buy one for $750.00, upgrade parts for $50.00, Spektrum radio for under $200.00, any head kit for under $200.00. Thats $1200.00 and still gives you $200 for extras. Or keep the 23cc and its $1000.00.

Overall 2wd truck? 5T. I think personally, they are over priced right now. 12-1300.00.

one thing the may make a helping decision.

if you go with the 5T, you can pull parts off, toss on a 5B body, rear tires, and hav the buggy pretty quickly. it easier to go to a 5B from the T than visa versa.

not much, but does kinda of offer best of both worlds so to speak. just upgrade toward the 5T on upgardes if its is a specific version.

looks like it could be downt o 2wd or 4wd.

I can remember being in your shoes. Which one to get? No matter which one you get you will be happy, wait, no you won't, not until you have them all.

Good point on the 5T. Way cheaper to swap back to a buggy then the other way around.:)

ya im adding the conversion atm. looking to be around 400.00 for the minimal things.

TR T brace, Side mounts braces, rear front bumper, body , and rims/tires. FN OUCH.

Hey I got the firehammer mt and my girl has the 5b I say between the two u can't pick either there both great but a lil more fun with the 5b due the wheels are cheaper you know what I mean? U can put on slicks ect ect in no time rather than buying new rims n tires for what you need to be honest I'm thinking about the redcat rampage tt5 buggy and get some slicks so for my 2cents I'd say a redcat or the 5b
