I've seen RR's run and even they are impressive to look at and preform well. Personally I'd rather take my Rampage and put money into it. I'm kinda like that. Thats why I own a Mustang instead of a Porsche. You can pay 100k for the Porsche (MCD) or pay 25k for a Mustang (Rampage), dump 15k into and and smoke the 100k Porcshe.

MCD Ultimate is nice for sure!!!! I think member AKzip may be getting one? It does come with all the goodies on it. ONLY drawback I see is parts costs and availability.

The Redcat MT Pro looks good too, but the weight of it kinda kills it. The alum. arms may not break but I can guarantee you it will at the very least bend. The pipe is kinda like a "give me" to justify the price, even though we know the pipe is on the weak side.

I say save your money and wait to see what comes up in the future.

I don't like the analagy of comparing our Rampages to a Mustang Ford product Thank you very much There is no place like Texas LOL

I got (3) rampages now.. I was liking the MCD because its has all the upgrades.. plus I read it Handles jumps alot better.. the Rampage likes to nose dive..

on my rampage I break front arms at least 2 times a week. and ive already broke 4 diff cups...

I was just running with a 5b today he broke a shockshaft, bent another, and also busted an a-arm... I didn't break a thing and we were doing the same stuff... Not to mention I riped him a new a hole in nearly every department... I don't think any of those will be stronger... That's just my opinion

i think that 1700 for the ramp is pretty silly. im thinking you could to the same alum mods from rampabe hop-ups for less. the cage is crap and the pipe is crap. but im also not an mcd fan either. i just think from the start they were always just so freakin over priced for just not enough. plus i don't like the way they look with those minny shocks and weird phatboy body.. it seems that you want something silly modded. if i had 2400 for a sweet rig i would opt for a 4wd fg comp. with hydro's. i would go with the mt, but if you like the buggies then go for it.. i would like to say that a rig with killer aftermarket parts would be a fun build, like a 5t just stacked to the max, but you will wind up spending more i think..

I thought about getting a 5t.. because they jump so good.. but just 2wd ..
ya they do jump better, the 2wd is fun for a little bit. i like to run in the snow so 4wd is a must for me. im pondering this and to be honest, if i had 2400 in rc funds, i really don't know what i would do. i like to make calculated decisions when it comes to my rc'ing and i think this would stump me. thats the good thing about not having alot of rc cash... easy dicisions:D

i was at large scale today. i looked at the mt the rr and the pro. in my 30 years of rc expierence i have never seen a car come as close to a work of art as the new ultimates you can look at it for hours and still not catch all the details. i love my rampage, but hats off to mcd for building a truck that is that nice. is it worth what they are asking? if i could afford it i would have one! the new shocks are a 2 way design, they jounce faster than they rebound.(how cool is that?) ultimate is THE word to describe them.

Nothing wrong with a Mustang. I've owned 7 of them over the last 20 years. Trannies don't hold up to 350+ HP but that's what aftermarket trannies are for.

Anyways, if I had $2400 to spend on a 5th scale I think I'd still buy a Rampage. With an extra $1700 you could get a machine shop to fab a set of custom diffs and still have alot of money left over.

Not meaning to steal the thread, If I had 2400 in rc funds I'd get a 1/3rd scale 197lb 110cc monster ride on rc. Although that ultimate RR by MCD does look real nice

I wonder how Durable the Ultimate RaceRunner is.. Also I can get if ro less then 2400 since I don't need a motor. I already own (3) Rampages.

I am not die hard Chevy or Ford just seeing if it reved you up and you were die hard Mustang?

I see your point the Rampage is a good base car to Mod with. Just not seeing what you could get for a machine shop for 1700 I got about 20,000 in mine and not anywhere close to having enough to be competetive, still just a hobby shop.

Oh I meant outsourcing the work to a machine shop. I could cut alot of the cost by providing the CAD work myself.

Until you hit a corner then the ol' mustang would be up in smoke:D in a heap over the guard rail. Same for that POS the corvette, take off the traction control and it wont stay on the track...now the viper is a whole lot of fun....just powerslides all day long til the tires blow....and yes I have driven all of them in my time and I drive on the circuit like I drive my rampage:D

anyhow I digress...MCD are not for me, they only lowered their prices cos they were no longer the only 4x4....overpriced tat. With 2400 and all aluminum it'd have to be either fg 4wd comp buggy, hurrax 4wd, lauterbacher 4wd or 2wd cleon.

I've heard too many bad things of MCD to buy one now

mooman

what bad things have you heard? I heard about the diff . but I was told that was the early version the mcd are in EVO3 now which is generation 3..
