Hi all as the title says, what is needed im looking to go all lifepo4 battery (A123) on all my rcs.
The thing is when it comes to battery's and charging rates amps and so on,im not a genius.
Ive have looked at killer rc battery packs these are the Hyperion lifepo4 batt packs.
http://www.killerrc.com/products/products/batteries_lights.php
I have visited Hyperion website, there's so much info up on there web it was a bit confusing
http://www.hyperion-world.com/products/

PS List of what i would need
1 x hump back (receiver)pack for the car
1 x pack for the (transmitter) dx3r
1 x charger

So if there is any one willing to help a guy out, would be much appreciated.
Thanks

i use the TP 610c charger (around 100.00 usd). Love it.

LiFe can take a 1c rating, some of the newest cells can actually handle a 2c charge rating.
the TP 610 does NiCd/NiMh/LiFe/Lipo and PB cells. form 1 to 6s life and lipo, and 1 to 14 cells NiCd/NiMh.

some of those HK chargers are really good. some not so well.
that one appears to be a great one.

Thanks for the info guys but still my head is up where the sun don't shine .
I need a charger ,receiver hump back pack ,transmitter pack DX3r which do i go for.
I wanted to get the one from Nate at killer rc but if i go that route ill get stung with the shipping.
If i can go the hobby city way then that's fine, they have some real sweet deals.

you mean Kent at Killer RC? lol

ya hard call. fwiw, ive been using 2 of Killer RCs 2S LiFe rx packs. so far they have been very good. get around 5 tanks and great power till the very end with them.

I have been thinking of going to a LiFe TX pack too. but for the React, i need no more than 6.5 v so i don't burn it out.

Kent you say well ive bean talking to Nate anyway not important,so your looking for life batt packs for the redcat,
but looking for no more than 6.5v, wouldn't a volt limiter work then ?..
I found a guy called Angelo las night on google he was advertising on
http://www.rctech.net/forum/nitro-off-road/307687-lifepo4-rx-6-4v-battery.html
had lots of info about lifepo4 prity darn helpful that's for sure i sent him a mail, asking if he could hook me up with the the list above.
still waiting he has a web site do you know anything about it ?..

not much, i ve seen the name on RCtech here n there.

alot of smart peeps over there where leccys are concerned too. most are very helpfull.

the LiFe Pacs are 3v cells (where LiPo is 3.3v cells) so 2 cells is 6v (when flat) and fully charges to around 6.7v, which should be fine for the React. I doubt .2v will cause a problem, but i have a v reg here, but not sure i can adjust it. it m ay be fixed at 6.5v. i ll have to check to be sure. If i do cut it to 6v i would get a bit more tx run time also.

for your 6v rx packs, you just need a 2 cell LiFe pack that will fit in your battery tray.
for anything 9.6v (txs with 8AA ect) you can run 3 cell LiFe.

Trick with LiFe is going to find a cell size that will fit the trays well, and then MAH ratings are still a bit low. so overall runtime may not be as much as with a Lipo pack...

right now the 2S LiFe Baja pack from KillerRc.com is a 3650Mah pack. as the technology improves, i expect we'll see larger MAH ratings, while getting smaller and smaller Cells with the same voltage and runtimes form LiFe cells.

so atm, it about finding the correct fitting LiFe pack for the Rx or Tx your fitting it in.

as far as safety goes. LiFe is MUCH more stable than LiPo. so way less likely to blow, or catch fire ect..... they are much more able to deal with being out of cell balance and that is much less a worry than it is with LiPo also.

so there is a small trade off going on at the moment. safer cells, which are more stable and can take more rough and tumble abuse, but they have a slightly smaller runtime. but you can series them up to double MAH if you have room, and the cells are fairly light wieght for their size as well.

that pretty much exhausts my knowledge on them. heh
and most charger that charge LiPo will charge LiFe packs (But not all so check it out first).
they use a balance charger as does LiPo cells, but i have been told you can charge a LiFe pack a few times without balancing the pack and it will be fine.

you know, i think Kent does work with a partner. so thats prolly Nate. lol
