What is the difference between the two?

I don't think the Sport comes with the big-bore shocks. At least my partner's Cheetah sport did not. His sport came with the older style alloy shocks that were also threaded but much smaller in bore. One thing is for sure. You're gonna want those big-bore shocks. They are very very nice.

Basically the V4 Comp has a host of alloy parts over the Sport version. Funnily enough the Sport shocks (plastic) are what many are fitting to the Comp as the Alloy shock bodies on the Comp are not that good, they leak whereas the plastic ones don't!!

The Comp is the better car though as currently it is the most expensive V4 before the Ultimate version gets released but this has been a long time coming.

It is worth paying for the Comp in my opinion though then start to consider a few choice upgrades but leave the shocks as they are.

i put the plastic shock forks off the sport on my comp they flex where as the alloy ones don't an you bend shock shafts i have never had a problem with the shocks leaking

The only v4 shocks that had a problem with leaking were the first generation ones,i have got the version 2 and have not had a problem with them leaking, you just need to make sure you run the plastic shock forks so you don't bend a shaft.

@ Glenn and Whittron,

I have the Version 2 of the V4 and they leak. Take a look at the MCD racing forum to know more of the problems, these guys race them and they leak. Their is an upgrade to use Hormann shocks but not many have done it.

Mine leak from the top cap but changing to the plastic plastic shock body, upgrading the shock shaft to an M5 thread at the base where it fits the fork and adding the Jofer USA spring tables makes a real difference, a lot less flexing of the shaft due to the shock tables being alloy and less leaking due to better sealing on the plastic shock body which also does not get any contamination from the alloy particles in the shock oil.

If you take the shock oil out of your shocks with the alloy body you will no doubt have a grey/silvery colour to the oil, this is not normal and is down to the alloy being too soft, as the piston in the shock moves up and down it slowly wears away the inside of the shock body, this does not happen with the plastic shock body.

Another upgrade you can do is refit new pistons but block the holes up with epoxy then re-drill the holes at 1mm if you put 3 or 4 holes in you can use a thinner shock oil and this helps loads.

i took my shocks apart today after i ran it hard for 3 tanks of fuel on the track at large scale no leaks or silver or gray color to the oil

Ihave not had any problems with my v2 v4 shocks, except for shafts bending and since i have put the 6m nutech shafts in that has went away,no leaking or funky colored fluid, and i run my car all the time.

V4 comp is alot better then the basic model there is quite a vast difference from the two, big bore shocks, alloy servo tray, multiplex servos, alloy diff,i think it even comes with a tuned pipe. if i had the money i know what would i buy.

find a new v4 standard comp with a fitted tuned pipe/multiplex Digi 4's

and alloy diff:D:D

K....
