Hi Guys, We're arranging and indoor race meeting and trying to cater for everyone. We'd like to know what would put you off attending this sort of event.
We'll be running 3 classes, 2wd, 4wd and outlaws - cars that don't conform to the "rules" of the 2&4wd classes.

Your thoughts/opinions are most welcome (please keep them constructive)

Cheers, Mike

I will do anything I can to race if I have the funds to do so. Rules do not much matter to me I just fallow them the best I can. I have not raced in 2 years do to my situation and not being a large scale track with in 300 to 400 miles of me. I was about ready to sell my large scale and go back to nitro 1/8 just to race again.

A couple of months ago I found a dirt oval 60 miles from me that runs all scales. Never been big on dirt oval but I missed racing so much thought I give it a try. Well my mind was change after taking my first lap. Not sure it was the tack or if I just missed racing so much. The only rule they have I am not fond of but do fallow is being they run all scales and the smaller scales fussing about how the large scale tear up the track we have to run street tires on our drive wheels. Mine is 2 wheel drive so I only have to run them on the rear and can run what ever I want on the front.

I ran there this weekend and thought I would be doing something I have never done before come in dead last. My set up was not the best as I am learning but did very well much to do with luck and came in first. Lord willing and I have the founds I will be back on Nov. 19 with a much better set up.

Got there real early about 1 hour after the sun came up to do some practicing and get a few pictures. Race did not start till noon.

The track is in Brooks Georgia and if any one would like more in formation PM me. Come run with us on the only track in Georgia that runs large scale.

Bashing works for me because I can go for an hour (or whatever) with my mates at a local site, chill out, have fun and not be away from the family for too long seeing as I work away Mon to Fri every week. There is no time limit, no rules, no disappointment at coming last (lets face it all males are competitive!!), a std 5th will do - any 5th - so long as you have fun. I can also bash with my sons and their Lunchboxes and turn it into a family day out which is cool.

Im not opposed to those who race and respect their skills in negotiating a track at speed but it doesn't fit in with my life at the moment!

+1 to this

I used to feel exactly the same until I found a track not too far and thought "what the hell" let's give it a try. Well I was totally hooked after the first meeting even though I came in last and have now done about 7 meets and am always last apart from other peoples dnf's, still refuse to give up though.

I have done both bashing and racing. Unless you have raced you will not understand. I get such a adrenal rush that is better then drugs that I never got when bashing. To me a good day racing is starting and finishing having fun and anything else is a bonus.

^^^^ plus one to that. plus it doesn't matter how you run your rc weather you bash or race as long as you are having fun thats what its all about.

as for the o.p. yes i would attend an event like that as long as there was enough ventilation so we didnt all get carbon monoxide poisoning

I would love to race large scale offroad, I just found a local large scale offroad club/track in my suburb its privately owned and did'nt know it even existed until the other day lol

Here is a video of some playing around before the race last Saturday. I had a lot of trouble with over steer which I hope the changes I am making will fix it. It was just pure luck that I won the main BUT THAT IS RACING!

an indoor track would be amazing. ventilation is a big concern. I've never been to an indoor gasoline race but have with nitros and I was sick for 3 days after.

we fun race our 5th scales, but we just setup a track and run. I think racing is the best part of rc, but I am in the minority of that sentiment in our group. off road racing is much the same around here. I think organized racing brings more people together and grows the hobby. it's like we run aimlessly, we get 2 or 3 guys... we set up a track, the numbers double in short time... run more often. etc. without us running actual racing though, there are many 5th scale owners that go race 1/10 and 1/8 instead.
