Hi guys

i want to buy a HPI truck, should i buy a 5sc or 5t what do you think ?

well the 5t is discontinued however with that said i look for the following when i make a purchase:

1. unassembled kit
2. quality
3. looks

so with the above 3 the above 3 criteria and views based on my personal experiences i get for #1 the 5sc, for #2 neither (had bad luck with my 5bss but after an extra 2300.00 + it just about has what i expect in terms of quality from a 900.00 + rc kit) and for #3 i get the 5T ( i think the 5sc is fugly LOL).

in teh end the choice is completely yours, and with teh 5t being discontinued if you find one for a good price that may be the way to go but if you prefer the sc looks then the 5sc may be for you ;)

up to you dude

there almost the same apart from the bumpers....

bigger dog bones (pin's are same size as stock)

new hubs with e-clip mod

wheels/tires

new one piece rear hubs

new shell (very weak)

gunmetal alround

And yeah thats it i think...... all the rest like engine ect are all the same as the 5t.

you can still buy 5t's even tho there discontinued, DDM still have em and so do a few
hobby shop do to.

up to you mate what you get.

Thanks guys for your opinion, ddm has the hpi 5t for $1099us with a free power pipe + $200 postage and i also get $60 off if i use my coupon code
and i think the 5sc is $1299us + $200 us mmm decisions decisions
i also don't care if 5t is discontinued model cause 5b 5t 5sc there all basically the same in parts so that should'nt be a problem....
But before i do anything i gotta get rid of my 5b LOL

Andy

Yes thats true Andy, Its a King motor 5b its a great car was going to sell it to my friend and then buy hpi may even buy a 5b ss kit without motor and fit it with a o'neill bro motor and a victory pro side mounted pipe and some other goodies ....DUNNO what to do LOL

start off fresh and get your 5b ss kit then you will enjoy the build and thats a good
choice on motor and pipe too, i no its so had to decide, i hate that

good luck anyways mate and hurry up and decide coz i want to see pic's rock.gif

5SC

I would go with the RTR rather than the SS version, the only difference between them is the updated 26 fuelie and the SS pipe but no one has been able to tell me what the differences are between the RTR fuelie and the SS fuelie. With regard to the pipe, what is one of the first upgrades people do to their cars? .......change the pipe!

The hpi 5b ss kit also come without the 26 fuelie.. will be replace with o'neill bro 4.5hp+ motor and victory pro side pipe and also TR clutch setup and other TR parts

That sounds really good.... then you could sell the 26cc and that can go towards new parts ;)

i disagree and say go ss that way you can build it and you can add hop ups if you want while building, why buy a rtr when you will have to get a new radio system anyway. best to go ss and build it so you get teh full enjoyment out of your new ride ;)

i own a baja 5sc...while it is a nice truck.. the bodies are crap...an big bucks to replace.. the amount of slop in the front end an rear end is crazy...even after doing some mods to fix it there is still alot.. i say if you buy one buy it used....i don't think they are where the money you pay for them... they are nice don't get me wrong..i have one. but if i had it to do over i would look for a cheaper 1/5...
