looking for some advice as to what steering servo to get, any eg.s of good middle priced ones and top end ones, plus prices too if possible.
Thanks

Hitec 5745, a popular choice for steering servo in the baja, with sufficeint torque for the task. Rhino Digi4 is a great alternative too

I would recommend the Multiplex Rhino Digi 4. It's a beast and it's reliable. Had 3 Hitecs burn out before i changed it for the Rhino. Never looked back :)

If you read the threads on the forum, people generally choose between the Hitec 5755 and the Rhino digi4.
I have twin Rhinos on my FG MT, single on my 1/5 McLaren GTR.
All swear by both.
The Rhino's not available in USA any more, but is still available in Europe. DDM say the 5755 is equivalent / has replaced the Rhino in USA. Politics? No idea.
Check out DDM if there's still any offer on them.

From looking at many forums over the years, it would seem that Hitec is by far the most popular brand in the USA. From what I've been told, the 5755 is identical (aside from the case) to the Rhino, even down to the part number on the pcb.
If you want the ultimate in steering servos, you want one of these (see pic of my old contrast), it a tonegowa, sadly they're out of favour just now as it's an analogue servo and it's big. Standard they have about 78kg of torque but are quite slow, oddified they're super fast with only a slight drop in torque.

I have run many steering servos. I have run 5745, 5755 and the Rhino Digi 4. The Rhino is a beast and works great, but for the money, The 5755 is the best for the money. I also like the HPI steering servo that is similar in size to the 5755. I am actually using all 4 different servos currently in different RCs right now. I am using the HPI servo in my 5T, the Rhino in my 5B, and in my MCD 2-5755 and a 5745.

Thanks for your help lads, there is still life in the servo thats in the car but when I look at it, I can tell, its not going to last. So I think I will be getting a hitech very soon. It may not be a good idea to buy one second hand, just incase something goes wrong.

Hitech 5775 is exactly the same as the discontinued rhino digi 4 its just in a black case
