I made an engine for a fella a few months ago and he has returned it saying its running rough (when it goes)
This bloke is a decent one and I trust him to say its not right.I have just picked it up from the post office and not stripped it yet to see the problem.
The engine is as follows....
Billet bottom end.
CRRC variable timing head.
Alro variable timing crank case.
+2mm stroker crank.
1mm copper gasket.
668 carb.

I have built engines for a good few years now as some of you will know but never built one that doesn't fire on the second pull and runs rough before.
So,before i start to strip and get into it,is there any pointers that I have over looked? as this is a pretty expensive bit of kit and I do have a reputation for not ripping anyone off to hold.
Cheers people.

i know its a pain but might be worth fitting it in something and try it for yourself then you can see how its running first hand and go from there,,also you say its got adjustable timing could it be that it needs fine tuning to suit the pipe????

There are so many variables, he could have used so much it is due for a rebuild, could have run it through water anything really,

Cheers Ian but I do believe this bloke and its in the same condition as it left, with no wear to the bore(what I could see through the inlet/outlet manifolds).
Going to have to lob it in a car to give it a good look over. Its just this variable timing thats bothering me as I have built a good few engines and they have all been screamers.
