what to do with unburned fuel

well ive been scouring the threads and cant find any info on what to do with fuel that you don't burn in your tank. is it ok to just leave it in there? i know the carbs don't like fuel in them over a extended period of time, but how long? should i just run my motor til it runs dry? is this bad? or should i undo the fuel lines and pour unused fuel out? any suggestions appreciated.
 
good to know. ive been running mine dry too but didnt know if it was bad for the motor. i figured it wasnt since i run my lawn mower, weedwacker, and boat motor till theyre dry also. but the main reason i was running it dry is cuz i gotta keep my duney inside and i don't want my wife bitchin about the fuel smell!
