Hey Guys,
New to Large scale cars, Have a couple savages now and looking for a HPI 5T or 5B, Have been looking at a few used ones, can anyone give me a heads up on what to look for when buying a used one? Other than obvious damage how do you tell if one has been completely abused? Read a few threads on here about the difference between the HPI and clones, and what to look for, any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. I have a 5b SS for about 3 years now. If you can have the owner run it for you before you buy. If you buy off line have him make a video of it running with present dates on the video.

Look at thinks like dog bones to make sure they are not twisted and the drive cups and pins are in good shape. This will help you determine how much it has been run unless they have been change. All so look at the kick up on the front of the main chassis to make sure it is not bent or cracked.

Ask about any up grades that might have been done. If you find something try to post pictures here with lots of close ups. I will try and help any way I can.

I have a tricked out race savage that I have not run in a couple of years.
Good luck and keep us posted.

One thing all large scale need is a remote kill switch but I do not think they will work with the stock radio. Not only does it safe guard your investment but a 30-pound RC vehicle out of control is dangerous and a liability.

I use the Killer Bee and Kent the owner is a great person to deal with. He has a very extensive fact and question section, which you should check out.
