I have had very good luck with the FG filter, all you need to do is apply a small bead of grease around both sides of the filter before you screw the end on.. I am not aware of anything else that fits, the FG filter is offset a bit, so the HPI filter won't work very good.

If you are using an on road car the K+N are ok but off road has got to be (as Kami and Clubin said) the bog standard filter with an outwears on.

I agree with the others, stick with the original FG filter and use plenty of oil and outwear prefilter and then you are good to go :)

FG filter and outwear prefilter is a good set up.

i used the gbe airfilter from the hpi baja on my fg mt for a bit but whent back to the fg stock filter

The original FG filter is not 1 of the best filter to go for offroad driving in the sand.
The sand comes in through the connection where the foam filter fits the filter holder.
Some people use fat, spread this between the foam filter and the filter holder.
So the sand is sticking in this fat between the filter and the filter holder.

Good replacement filters are RN, TPS and K&N filters,,,,,
provided that K&N filter is adjusted with a pre filter and a antistatic filter cover.

Here is an example of a K&N.

Dual stage replacement filter for the standard FG filter holder like the Marder and Monstertruck have it.

Stick with the stock filter and use FG's 6464 black cover. Both work great. Get some spare filters so you can always have a clean one ready to go. They are pretty inexpensive.

Or if you have got a missus that can use a sewing machine she can knock these up for next to nothing! Made from breathable Lycra with an elastic hem to stop leaks.

i used a hpi filter on my fg when i first got it as i have hpi stuff from my baja, then i useda gbe filter for the hpi baja, and whent back to stock, the hpi sotck filter sucks in crap if its not greased and it a pain to change i thought

The stock filter and Redneck both oiled will be a great combo.:D
If the stock filter is oiled correctly, when the end cap is fitted it pushes the filter into the head of the filter holder. Once fitted with the Redneck it can be over lapped on the top or fitted tight to the holder as well.
