What is the best gear ratio to use on my MT 29ccZen? At the mo it's two speed and 1st gear is 46/18 2nd gear is 44/20 and the diff is 48/16 lay, I've heard it's best to do away with the two speed and change to one speed, and try using just 44/20? I would like crazy acceleration and be able to wheelie thru out the rev range is this possible? If so with what ratio? I've been on the flee bay and there's someone selling blackstone steel gears with all sorts of different ratios and I remember there was one that was out of stock at the moment which next to the ratio of 32/32 said you got to be dam stupid to try or use this one. Also shall I leave the diff and lay as it is at the moment48/16 and just change the clutch and spur gear? How does it work is it the bigger the gear numbers the faster bottom end or top end power? Or the smaller the gear numbers? Hope to hear from you guys soon thanks:D

leave the diff and lay gear, you can get plenty of different speed changing the outside gears! you have the perfect setup in my eyes,mt with mt wheels and 16/48 should pull 44mph,maybe i would put 16/48 in first gear for 39mph,then leave 44/20 on secondfor 52mph,thats plenty, you will never pull off 32/32 gears with that engine and pipe with fgmt wheels, with a 29cc engine you are probably at your limit, around 50mph, i know because im at the same place, you need to talk to gary005 from this forum, thats his utube name, check his vids,he can advise you from experience too,hes got a mt and is experimenting with different ratios and wheels etc.
the smaller the spur, and bigger the clutch, the higher speed, the opposite, lower speed.
p.s, if you use smaller marder knobblies, its the same as going down a tooth setting , eg, a mt with 42/22 will do about same top speed as a mt with mt wheels and 44/20 gears.youd have to have a ported engine to pull top revs with 42/22 gears or higher with mt wheels!, i did nothing but test gear ratios and tyre sizes with my marder for 6 months almost.

Hi hyper I've now changed from 2 to 1 speed and still got 48/16 diff/lay and now just got 46/18 spur/clutch all metal gears now alloy engine mounts 29cc zenoah and un silenced jetpro and fg foam filter de choked carb and at the mo stadium wheels,I've only put three tanks through new engine when should I try and tune it up? Or should I leave it be, also forgot to mention a fully adjustable alloy diff which at the mo I've made to a limited slip and am going to give it a whirl shirl in a couple of hours. Hope all is ok with u bud

sounds good buddy, seems your doing alot of messing and changing stuff etc,you will find the best setup that way.
ok you back to a single speed, if youve got a healthy 29cc standard/stock engine and a good pipe, use 18/46(stock marder gears) good top speed and acceleration, but i change mine everytime i go out lol,i use 22/42 for big area, 18/46 small areas, but lately using 20/44,but remember thats on my marder.
i tried 24/40 once on a long strip to see if i could get over mid 50's but i had no chance, not enough power, i can get the full 51mph from 22/42 on tarmac but only 47 mph on short grass with same gearing. thats why im using 20/44 as that what speed it tops out at,plus im hitting better revs.
anyway as soon as i come off this forum im ordering my new engine for the marder, its going to scream!! lets just say ive got 26 clutch gear ill get 36 spur and gps it,

oh and if you have the jp v2 unsilenced, youll see its incredibly loud lol, they give an amazing power hike over the stock can and a screamer!

Hi there I've got a jet pro unsilenced and it's well loud but it's a top end pipe and still no wheelies!! Even with stadium wheels and marder wheels just keeps spinning like crazy on short dry grass it just rips it up down to the mud wheel spins on Tarmac am waiting to get a Dom torque pipe or simailar clone to try that out and see what happens
