If you do manage to crash it (very rare) When you reopen , it will give you the choice to start from your home page(s) or open the tabs that were open before it crashed.
Has a built in rss feed reader etc
So does IE8.....
I'm a Microsoft guy... I develop in it and use it... IE8 might load slower, but then again it has to do a lot more than just browse... you might not need all these options so a cripled...hmmm... slim lined browser might do for you... In that case FireFox seems to be updated more often and up to date...
Even though some features have to be developed differently to be completely compatible for both.. I develop for IE8 and then check FireFox and fix what it does not understand or don't like and I'm golden...
Now if you are in a corporate, business world or IE8 for its intranet capabilities would be my choice.
I know there are a lot of Microsoft haters out there, and hate anything microsoft no matter what... I in the other hand I'm the opposite. I develop in Visual VB, .ASPX .NET... and others so I might be a bit partial.
This is just my opinion, please don't flame me for it!

Another note: GET OUT OF IE6!!!... It has major problems and security risks!
Some info from MS web about the intranet option I mentioned above...

The Internet Explorer Administration Kit 8 allows you to customize Internet Explorer 8 for your organization with preset home page, favorites, and more.

These would be some of the thing I need to use in my Office ambient.
Here is a complete list of Group Policy Settings Reference for Windows Internet Explorer 8.
No other browser can give me this....
