So after about an hour of tearing up the country park and hitting the gravel trails...I Came out of a slide badly, the rear end snaked wildly....i hit a wooden bench head on
I swear it jumped out on me :o

Damage: Bent track arms, snapped bolts to front axle mounts, bent alloy plate
broken axle mounts , bent servo saver pin, broken front bumper, bent bolts for servo tray

Servo saver and Hi-tech servo remained un damaged thankfully, i craked the under body tray (beatle body)

Mad Mad Mad !!!

My saving grace i think i got of lightly !

Them benches are ever so slightly harder than an FG!! Sounds like you got off lightly there bud - sheared/bent bolts and a broken bumper are minor stuff. I would recommend checking the chassis after an off like that. If its bent it will go across the middle just in front of the fuel tank. Put a straight edge down the length to check it out.......here's mine after I straightened it following a full throttle FG vs rock!!!

Ah man, i didnt even think about the chassis, will check that out
when i start to compile a list of the damaged parts for order ! Would love to
go to some alloy parts but the budget wont allow it this side of the summer :(

Hopefully it wont account to much

Are you interested in 4wd?

If the chassis is bent, that by itself will set you back at least 125 bux. (U.S.) (Unless it can be fixed.) Plus the other broken bits. Or you could opt for the 4wd conversion kit...

http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.885035/n.1/it.A/id.6365/.f You can get 5% off with the LSF discount code. I know it's alot, but it comes with enough stuff to almost build another MT.

The FG plastics are excellent quality and can withstand a good beating. If you were all alloy you would have more damage to the front end by way of bent arms etc. The plastics flex to some degree hence the screws shearing - it seems to work like a crumple zone :w00t: My impact with the rock resulted in a new front upright, a quick straighten of the chassis and a few screws, which is good in my book :D IMO go ally if you like the bling look but otherwise stick with plastic. Its light weight, very durable and cheap to replace if it does go tits up.

I just caught up with this thread, its been a hell busy day ! I've put a level across the chassis...
its not that bad....

Should it be 100% flat ? I've never really thought about it before ? lol

I could straighten this out but would it make it weak at the point it is bent ?

Voo, i will PM you :D

I've managed to price up the damaged parts at around £70 that doesn't include anything for the chassis at this point though if i need one :(

Would love to go 4WD and some key alloy parts but I've been banned by the future wife on spending money un-necessary as were getting married at the end of May :w00t:

See my thought process is...now if her car broke down, im sure that would be a very necessary expenditure to get it back on the road right ? ...so my guess is spending £100 to get my beast back on the dirt isn't that bad ? :D

I agree that some parts should just remain plastic to take a beating and save some of the more pricey stuff :D

The 'kick up' at the front should be there! The angle looks a little to steep in the pic but you will be able to tell this if the brace from the suspension mount to the radio tray/servo saver doesn't line up - like this........

Bolt sheared during impact & kick up is bent up too far misaligning the bracket

picture.php

Kick up angle reduced :hammer::hammer:to allow bracket & bolt holes line up again

The Chassis wasnt bent to far out, a little convincing in the vice and hey presto !!

The alloy brace was bent to hell !! was a little twisted too
Axle pins were a little bent but nothing im worried about, £70 later and
she's back together and ready for some action tomorrow :w00t::celebrate:
