You might have a bad carb.

Could also be an air leak. They can cause all sorts of running problems.
 
As soon as I get home from work I'm gonna do some more trouble shooting. I am leaning toward the lack of fuel delivery sad my culprit.

Between the head and engine case.

Between the carb and isolator block and isolator block and engine.
 
Holy crap I'm excited to report I got it started and it ran for a bit. Here in Chicago it's a little cold to be playing outside, but I'm glad I got it started. WooHoo
 
Honestly I couldn't tell you. I tightened and retightened everything. Opened the fuel tank and let some pressure out. Removed and reinstalled the spark plug. Adjusted the carb just a smidge. But one or two of those things made the difference.
 
Could be both.

It sounds like you need to vent the fuel tank. The vent in the tank cap is inadequate.
