Hello everyone! Well I'm new to 1/5th scale. I do have a Baja SS Converted to the casle kit. Love it. But not new to RC. I want to get my first Gas powered RC. I only BASH. I was looking at the Nutech Thunderbolt 2. And The FG Baja 4WD. What positives and negatives of each? I know the difference in price. FG being more. I like aluminum. I know it bends and may not give as much as plastic. Thanks

The FG 4wd Baja is a nice car, great to work on but I do not view it as a bashers car, probbaly somewhere in between bashing and racing. Spares are easy to get hold of and not too badly priced.

I know nothing about the Nutech Thunderbolt so can't comment.

If it is purely a car for bashing then look no further than the HPI cars, plenty of choice, plenty of spare, plenty of upgrades and all well priced.

All cars have their good and bad points but thousands of bashers cannot be wrong when they pick HPI. None are without bad points but the HPI cars are so well supported both by the OEM and aftermarket sector you cannot go wrong.

You will spend plenty of money no matter what you choose.

Thanks for the Replies. I should have said That I wanted a 4WD. Yeah the HPI baja is like the small block Chevy. Parts galore.

My budget is about 1500.00 U.S I was looking into used. Thanks

I was a tester on the TB II before the hit the streets and hopefully they have improved. How long of a run time do you get on a set of batteries in your electric baja SS before having to replace or charge them?

Where do you live? The reason I ask is parts for some brands are more diffract to get in some places. Most places you have no problem getting HPI parts.

If you wait a while till there are some end user reviews on the Losi 5ive T then you might consider it. Should be with in the next mouth I think.

Thanks for the response 46U. I live in the East coast U S A

I have seen the Losi 5T. At least on line. What about a well upgraded Nutech TB2 for under 1000.00???

How much run time do you get on a set of batteries on your electric 5b SS before you have to change them or charge them?

I all so live on the east cost in Macon, GA. As far as the TB 2 does it have the wheel adapters to run HPI wheels? Is it ready to run or roller? What engine is in it and what upgrades? Keep in mind RC stuff use only brings about 1/4 to 1/3 what a person has in it. I will say large scale holds its value a little better then the smaller scales.

There is a US distributor for Nutech and several for FG. But I have seen something be out of stock and took months to get it not that this happens every day.

Thanks For all the response. The nutech has HPI adapters. Mostly aluminum. Stock 26 Engine. Upgraded servos and Radio. And Extras.

I Got 18 minutes on the batteries. And still had power left. I was using gensacearespammers 5000mah 14.8 batteries times 2 It was fast Not sure how fast.

I was just curies about run time not that I will ever convert mine. Like getting 45 minutes run time and then only taking a couple of minutes to fill up and go again.LOL

You can buy the Nutech TB11 Pro roller which is mostly alloy for about $1200 this is just the roller but is new. Does the one you are talking about come with a TX and RX? All so what servos as there is a BIG difference in servos! To me it sounds a little on the high side for use. Do you have any pictures of it?

It comes with TX/RX spektrum. The servos are Hitec. Has a jetpro pipe. I don't have any Pics. Sorry. The one Thing I liked about the FG Baja is it had 4 wheel cable discs. I would think they stop better than a basic brake. The price is a little over 700.00

There are many different Hitec servos. My self I am not crazy about Hitec.

Is the FG RTR what all does it come with?

The FG is RTR. IT is a competition model. It has 4wd cable discs. Spektrum radio. The High end radio. Can't remember the model. Zenoah 27 4 bolt engine. Some extras to make it a FG Monster Truck again.

Do not know much about FG but is it a model that is still in production so parts are still available? Have you seen it run or a video of it running taken not long ago? Sounding to me like the FG is the better of the two deals.

Thanks for all the replies 46U. Yes it is a current model. It is a FG competition 4x4 Baja. No videos of it running. It is Untested. but the radio gear works. Hoping to get it for a little over 1000.00 shipped. The TB2 maybe a little over 700.00 shipped. I like the fact it can be converted back to the monster truck. They both have much aluminum. The TB2 has aluminum diff housing too. What do you think about the 2 servos for steering in the TB2??

I misunderstood as I thought you said the TB II was a grand and the FG was $700. I run one good servo on my HPI 5b SS and works well. I know some of the other brands run two and depends on what it is set up for. All so has to do with what servo you run.
