Hi Buck,i am running a Leopard 4092 930KV 11T pinion 6s the stock esc sits at(113f or 45c)and motor (149f or 65c) this is when i am running it very hard,i am waiting for the track star 8s esc to come in i will soon be running 8s :)
 
250F is definitely too hot. Most people consider 160F to be the safe zone. If the motor gets too hot the magnets begin to lose their magnetism and the damage is permanent! A motor with weak magnets will need to work harder causing more heat and increased strain on the esc.
