This my xbe with a castle XL esc and a Leopard 1090kv motor, running 6s at the moment, down loaded data from the esc today spec as follows- max amp pull was a 180amps,3830 watts at 50662rpm. The max amps the motor is rated at is 160amps,so its a little high at the peak,the motor temp got to 77deg C. I was running a 15 pinion and 44 spur at the time of the data being taken, does anyone know if I run 8s will the amp draw come down? :confused:

Only if you gear down.
 
Yeah.. 50k rpm is a little high for continuous use on one of the larger electric motors. You can check other sites to be certain, but I think the happy range for a 5692(assuming that's the one you have) is between 30-40k.

Wattage / Voltage = Amps

So, the highter the voltage at the same wattage, the lower your amp draw. 8s will defintely make a difference:

Average Usage:

1000 watts / 22.2 volts (6s) = 45.05 amps

1000 watts / 29.6 volts (8s) = 33.78 amps

Peak Usage:

3830 watts / 22.2 volts (6s) = 172.52 amps

3830 watts / 29.6 volts (8s) = 129.39 amps

Thanks Demon,thats what I thought,didn't really want to gear down and slow down, might have to get a smaller kv motor if the Leopard burns out. :eek:
