Hi,

Has anyone of you tried to change the clutch of XRC buggy? I noticed that the engine kind of "wakes up" after about 100 meters of acceleration, when you already got to start slowing down. There doesn´t seem to be official high rpm clutch for XRC, but will the HPI Baja´s 8000 rpm clutch fit?

I´m getting my new radiogear today; Ansmann W3 2.4 Ghz. Can´t wait to get some serious distance (and control) to my precious :).

Hi,

I run an XRC and will be installing a a 8,000rpm clutch spring. The HPI bolts are too big, need to drill out the housing if you want to use them, if not just retain the old bolts and get new clutch shoes (kellets hobbies sells them if your in Oz).

Ill be modifing my housing soon so that I can the same bolts and shoes the HPI's do.

The stock spring I believe is 6,000 and currently I have the same problem, takes too long for it to get into top revs where is sorta hits a new power band and shoots off but you run out of range/room too quickly this way.

Keep an eye on your axles, mine are already showing big signs of wear of mine is stock except for an air filter mod, with more power and a bigger clutch spring these axles wont last long!

Thanks for the info!

I was wondering, is it possible just to switch the clutch spring and retain the stock clutch shoes? Of course the HPI-shoes are lighter and all that, but I think that there might be a noticeable increase in perfromance if I just replaced the stock spring.

BTW, just fried my stock throttle servo yesterday :(. I installed my new receiver and radio and was too lazy to check the movement of throttle servo, as the steering worked allright with previous settings. Thorttle got jammed and fried the servo in 2 minutes...

Now I got two Futaba High Torgue servos (24 kg) for both throttle and steering and new tools worth of 300 € to make them (and all other tuning stuff) fit. Man, this is getting serious. But as they say; it ain´t a hobby, if it doesn´t take all your money :)

Yes, you can change just the spring.

Wow did the throttle jam open?

Yeah I changed my servo's as soon as I noticed them twitching. I went for 2 hitec servos. Doing fine now :)

Actually, the throttle-switch on the carburator didn´t jam. It was all due to mis-alignment of the servo. The final blow happened when i reversed the servos from the controller and the unwanted movement got even wider. Wouldn´t have happened with Futaba though...(maybe :) )
