Ok so im changing the stock air filter (which is crap) on my XRC to a unifilter.

My concern is that the stock air filter bolts to the carby using 2 screws that run through the carby and secure it to the head. When I take out the two screws nothing will be securing the carby to the heat for a short period until I bolt up the new filter.

If the carby moves while its unbolted will the gasket between carby and head be reuined? I cant bolt it back up in the wrong position because the 2 screws will have to align.

Any ideas?

You should get a couple of gaskets as backup just in case. Can't tell you how many times that's happened to me where I just need to put one more piece on and don't have any new gaskets.
That being said, if you remove the old carb and gasket carefully and have no rips in it that I always use them again. If it's got the slightest rip though, don't use it, it will mess you up down the line (engine stalling...etc..etc..)

form-a-gasket is your friend. I usually put that stuff on one side of all my gaskets. High heat type. It holds the gasket in place. and worst case you can put to the other side.

Thanks for the info guys. I changed the filter last night. Worked fine, carby didnt move. Looks ok but sticks out of the top of the roll cage a bit.

Heaps better system though, this should let it breath allot better, now to find a better exhaust!
