I picked up this beauty over the weekend.:D
It's still all original right down to the rtr radio gear.I fired it up and the motor runs great!I can't wait till the weather clears up so i can take it for a spin.
Do anybody know much about these cars? I might wanna do some mild bolt up grades.Like front brakes and gears, cuase i'm thinking maybe the gears from the FG cars will fit? I don't want to run it to much just incase i decide not to keep it.:rolleyes:It's in very close to mint condition so i don't want to mess it up. I don't believe in shelf queens and i believe this car is rare.Plus there's no 1/5th scale tracks in my area to race it.

wow in board shocks and chain drive! Never seen anything like this before!

the gear carrier/layshaft set up remind me of FG but thats where the similraities end.

good to hear your having fun with it mate.

It truly surprised me! The 1 shock in the front also works like a swaybar setup.I was also thinking the car was gonna over steer alot.Because of the front and rear tire being the same width.I was glad i was wrong about that too.LOL I'm gonna try to get some video up this weekend of the car running.

Yankee is a French company that is now tits up. these were probably sold in the mid to late 80s maybe early 90s. so it is Truely a Classic, and looks to be in Tip Top shape. so i wouldnt run it much, and keep it in great conditon and you ll have an RC Icon in another 10 yrs.

BUT the owner is still alive and kicking around RCTech.net somewhere from what i read on RCTech. word has it, he has N.O.S. (new old stock) of yankee parts still, and if need be, has been willing to mill new replacement parts for folks that need them.

Shes a beaut for sure.

Thanks...... It's gonna be hard not to run it as much because i had some much fun with it.The car works great too so it's like an addict tryin to kick the habbit.LOL I was going through some of my rc junk and i remember having the yankee catalog from when they first started the company. All this morning i went back to looking for it and can't find it now. Man they had some reaaly great cars! I wonder the reason for them going belly up was do to the timing of bringing out such large rc's? New era had some great stuff and they stop with their line of large rc vehicles.I use to own one of the 1/4 stadium trucks. That thing was a beast! but very scary to be running. The every now and again,i would think about it going out of control. It would do alot of damage if it hit something or someone.
Well hopefully i can get some vids up this weekend of the car running around a make shift track.

Tim,
I am not so sure that Yankee has actually gone tits up. Their website seems to still sell parts, bodies & stuff For instance, the Porsche 930 body is still available
http://www.yankee-rc.com/

Thanks for this info,i'm gonna cruise the site to see what goodies they have.:D I know they use to have a company in the U.S. I think this is the one that went belly up.

could be, i know the US Yankee dealer went out along time ago.

from everything i read, same happened to Yankee in the 90s when FG started becoming so popular.

But if the orig owner still has a operational website, thats Great News!>....

Here's a short vid of the car running in a dirty parking lot.I have the car running sort of on the rich side plus airfilter needs cleaning. But trust me for an old car that's all stock, she's pretty fast.Next time i get,i'll take a vid of the car running at her fullest.:D

I do have to do some chassis work i'm not worried about the suspension right now.Since i'm the only one running there's no need for me to get to carried away.
I want to make some sorta rollcage to help stiffen up the chassis a bit.I'm not gonna drill any holes.I'm gonna find place where i can just bolt it on to existing mounting areas. So i don't have to cut or drill anything on the car.

Oh i had to concentrate on trying to keep the camera on the car and drive at the same time.So please forgive my camera skills.
