I thought pbMax had a thing in the market place a while back....I know he modifys those switchs.....He buys the basic switch from diemaster...and reworks them..I know he is in the sister forum Baja under electronics...I talked with him awhile back about my spectrum Dx3 problem & the pico switch...AKASlawhammer

My Cleon has the stock rear which uses a cable going to the rear main dif. The front use the new airbrake design. :cool2: Most of the racers use this setup now.

Airbrakes, I have heard of these... How do they work? I was a mechanic for 15 years and air in the brake lines is bad because you can compress air. So, if you could tell me, how do they work?

Thanks,
Trip..

It's quite a clever if complex system, I liked the way the air brakes are sealed within their alloy casings. But because the model car is fairly small and light (compared to a real car) the compression of air is less of a problem.

The air bags within the casings press a plate against the fibreglass brake discs, it's very neat but no idea on how they stand up in the long term.

somehow air brakes just wouldnt cut it for me.
its like comparing an electric car to petrol poweres i think,i like the good old fashioned oil hydro or cable set up.

air sounds a little too boring lol.

cool that somebody agrees with me.

i just think air brakes are a little boring, cant see them to be relibale either.

unless air is run by compressor cant see it having much impact, brakes i think wouldnt be as strong as hydros...

couldnt be.

super that is an awesome truck you got.
i suggest you start up a new thread on that man and advertise it for everybody to see, like new man and the body is awesome, love the tail board.

would make a lot $$
u should stert up your own thread on your truck,if anything it would advertize it for you.

Trip..check with pb2themax on the Modified pico kill switch..there like 35 bucks..AKASlawhammer

That is PB's site: http://rckillswitch.com/ And he just buys a Pico switch and modifies them. Diemaster also made a howto but deleted it for some reason from all the forums.

90 Bucks!!! Holy Cow!!! That's not cheap, but I guess it is cheaper than a runaway!!

That one for 90 is the coolest of the cool ones with the led light. The one for 62.00 +3.00 s/h = $65.00 is the one that DDM sells for 65.

If anyone wants a how to I can do it for you. I have a vast background in electronics and modded my own without instructions. It is very easy.

Thanks,
Alex

If I were to buy one, I would have to have the light, cool factor and when I yank on the pull rope 3-4 times and it doesn't start, I could see the light!!! I wouldn't have to pull (whats left) my hair out...

Trip..

They don't the airbrakes to fit fg yet..only the cleon. I'd like some on the rear of my baja...bent both rear discs running on gravel...rocks get jambed in between the lower arm and disc...disc loses...another $50 and 2 week wait for the postman:no:

I run the $35 pb switches inside the rx box I just hit the tx switch after I turn the car on and I know it'll start..if I'm not sure i turn off the tx and on again and hit the switch...don't need a light

I have the airbrakes on mine. Haven't really had a chance to try them out well since we have a few feet of snow here. Elcon makes them for their Cleon and the Hormann buggies. Next will be fro FG and then for the HPI Baja's. They are only available for the front and I doubt they will make a set for the rear. The racers prefer them to the hydro/cables they have used in the past.

Pricey but they include the front uprights so the cost is close to hydros.

I need three or 4 of them.:( Is it hard to set up the wiring to it?

Everyone say's how delicate they are and soldering can be tricky. I can solder just not sure what too. I had the DieM how to, but someone must of pssd him off and he deleted all the photos and instructions from all his how to threads. If I only needed one I would just buy it but 4 is a different thing.

Where can one buy a PICO in the US? I tried radio shack and such with no luck.
