I don't know if it's really that good with the cylinder. I am afraid that the new piston will not be damaged. some say no, some say yes. I don't know how much the total repair would cost if I sent the engine to the USA. I think it will cost as much as the full top end kit. so sending it is pointless when I still have to pay for shipping..I feel like throwing it in a box and buying a engine from taylor. they would at least acknowledge the claim and maybe give a new engine... but OBR? all bad (((

It's just needs a burr around the edge to fix the chamfer.
It's nothing obr did, it's actually a defect of the zenoah piston that caused this, well whoever made the piston for zenoah is at fault. But really it can happen to any engine. The downfal here, is you'll never convince zenoah to replace anything under warranty, as it's modified. Dan should be taking care of this imo.

I don't know exactly what caused it. because in addition to the piston .... when I opened the crankcase, the damaged bearing fell out by itself. it should be tight there . the edge of the bearing was so frayed that the marking could not be read

The ring locator pin caused it all most likely. Stuff really flys around in there, doesn't take much to wipe a bearing out tbh.
I think the pin is there. or should it be longer? I don't know how Dan saw it in my photo.

it probably seemed to Dan in one photo that there was no pin. but it is there. so what happened . the bearing came loose and fell apart. and it got into the engine. but the piston ring went down from the piston very hard, as if it was pressed into the groove of the cylinder. so I really don't know.. I had 5 months old fuel in the tank. maybe even that?

just been catching up with this thread, i would have said the pin from the get go cos i have the same reedcase and mine had a pin failure, mine was a meth engine though and previous owner didnt look after it properly, but you've now disproved that,
so going off the latest posts,
it looks like bearing failure for certain, the bearing cage broke up and pieces travelled around the engine and hammered everything,

the new piston is a little different. it has a bigger hole. I asked Paul Hedges. supposedly it's a newer update..
the older has a bigger hole.sorry

almost done. it seems that the piston does not rub against the damaged place in the cylinder. I will start it tomorrow. I hope it will not be necessary to change the cylinder. looks like it will be ok. it seems to have better compression now than when it was new..
