anyone have issues with their 26s in regards to the carb? i was out with my baja yesterday finally getting some good running when it started to become hesitant upon acceleration then it died and wouldnt restart.

i went through the day troubleshooting it finally ending in rebuilding the carb (which in no way should it have needed this done yet), and when i cracked open the carb i was in for a surprise. first let me say i used teh pdf from walbros site during the carb rebuild which i do every time i rebuild a carb for a piece of lawn equipment such a s a trimmer, chainsaw, mower, etc and i found it odd that on the pdf there were 2 pieces shown that my wt-668 did not have (which was a first for me).

the parts not on my carb that were shown on the diagram are part #'s 33 and 48a on the following diagram

http://wem.walbro.com/distributors/servicemanuals/WTseries.pdf

i also ran into an issue with part #'s 23 and 24 in that they seemed a little loose (the brass one fell out to be exact while the other i could spin with my finger).

and the place where the little brass plug went looked damaged (probably from teh loose brass plug).

so i need to ask if anyone else has ran into this issue before on tehir baja?

i have been doing small engine repair for lawn tools since i was 11 and was mowing lawns and i have never ran itno the issue before myself.

i now need to come up with some funds so i can buy a new carb because the rebuild didnt work and i know the carb is the issue with my engine but it looks like once i get that taken care of my baja will run the way it should and after all teh aftermarket parts i should be good to go :D. only weak links left to change out are the clutch parts which are schedualed for next month and the parts i consider bling (lights, liquid graphiced parts, etc. :D ). so i would love to hear if anyone else has had similar issues with their carb and how old your carb actually was (i.e. how long have you had the engine/carb)

anyway i

Its been a long time since I have rebuilt a carb but the main issue I used to have was no filter on the rear of them.It used to let all-sorts of goop in and ruin the carb. Now i put a piece of sponge in there to act as a filter.

i have teh team chase filter on the carb but what i am wondering about is teh actual damage of teh carb body and bad welsch plugs in teh carb. this is the first time i have ever seen it myself. i put it back together so i cant get pics now but i am actually surprised it worked at all. i now have to add a carb to next months order (or order one sooner if i can get some cash LOL).

here is a pic of what issues i had with the plugs and the plug location.

also note the tiny screen under the brass plug had a hole in it, this is the first time i have taken the carb top off of it completely.

How old is your carb? There really should not be those kind of damages in them, i have some really old carbs myself and the only thing i ever noticed wearing out is the diaphragm, wich will result in poor high revs or it dying out when applying throttle. And i also can't remember having a spring in the bottom of my old WT688 carb, might it be that this service manual is applicable for a wide range of carbs in the WT series hence some parts missing etc from carb to carb?

carb is teh one that came on my fuelie 26s with my baja ordered from DDM end of month november 2010 (received it in early december 2010). never had the carb apart until i went to rebuild it (as a last resort to fix the issue that came up while trying to run it the other day and none of the other troubleshooting steps worked).

i have worked on small engines for years and never seen this before myself until now, yet every time i find an issue with anythign on my baja i get told how i am just trying to slam hpi or it is something i did well i don't get to run my baja enough because of somethign failing and this is yet another failure that i don't understand.

i guess i was just one of those few that got a factory lemon (its an expensive lemon to )
