And HPI isn't? You do realize that the engines that come in the Bajas are Chinese clones of Zenoah right?

Yes i do but KM have no right to copy HPI.

I was flaming about these KM's along time ago
and now im starting to like them so that last post
of me moaning just ignore me i was a peepee back
then...... ;)

It all comes down to what we can afford.....hpi or a clone its simple

baas

the stuff all comes from china. i have a hip 26cc fuelie motor on the forum for sale right now. it is a chung yang, which is a copy of a zenoah. hip is putting parts in their kits which are copies of some one else's motors. there are very few original items exclusively to one brand or another, anymore. so, point is, brand specificity means very little when you consider the source. it all comes from china.

Your still a peepee

Just kidding

My buddy has the KM, and I have a 5b. Honestly you cannot tell the difference between the two both in form and function. He beats the tar out of his, only thing he had to replace on it is the tires as they were junk lol. They were the dirt buster clone, he replaced them with these and he loves them so far.
Its funny, people that ask me if they should get a baja I tell them look into the KM. They are close to half the price, and that means they can spend that much more if they wanted to in aftermarket. Which keeps the aftermarket booming.

Yeah and It's not just the aftermarket that benefits. Sure, HPI isn't making money off the sale of the clone vehicles but how many of us have replaced parts on our clones with HPI parts?

A good example is when the previous owner of my Rovan Baja cartwheeled and cracked a rim. Did he replace it with a clone part? No, he bought a pair of HPI wheels. That is a sale they never would have made if the guy never bought the clone. You could say that HPI would have made more off the sale of the vehicle than the parts but I suspect that the majority of clone buyers would never have purchased a Baja to begin with if the price were doubled...as is the case with the HPI.

I own a KM. We all say its not the purchase it's the hop ups and maintenance that's pricey. I admit, I bought the clone for the price but, I support sponsored vendors like Killerbee, Hostel, Turtle Racing and especailly DDM. I have given 1000's to these vendors and will continue to in support of this awesome hobby. What you initially purchase I think is trivial to who you support in mods and maintenance.

Ok, off my soap box now

because im right you should of got a hpi but you got the copy instead so why do i need to
say anymore?
CSR, I really hate people online like you, you think you are on a "holier than thou" soap box. Get over yourself. If you don't like clones or cloned parts, stay out of the clone forums, simple as that. You are the one that needs to grow up. Why is it everytime I see someone post something about a part that wasnt made by the original manufacturer, there you are ragging on how its a rip off???

Bottom line is this, my money is MY money, your money is YOUR money. If you are STUPID enough to pay $1100 for the HPI car and enjoy it and I am SMART enough to spend $450 on the KM car and enjoy it, so be it.

Get a life dude and tell BP to stop riping off Exxon, Texaco and Amaco. They drill oil right? Wait, did BP pioneer drilling and spilling? They did, oops, shame on the rest for ripping off BP. LOL

Wow, I just have to get in on this.. I used to be HPI all the way till friend bought a KM. I now have a couple of bajas and have found that I can build one from scratch for $1200-1500 USD RTR, with every upgrade you need to get started with a reliable buggy. BTW I use km chassis, fuel tank, radio box, somtimes the radio gear and servo somtimes not, everything else is HPI,Turtle,RPM,FLM etc... So am I the bad guy I didnt buy a car from anyone I bought parts from all of them. I also agree this is a km thread don't bash in here especially if you don't own one cuz you just don't know.

Also people like that hide behind the keyboard and some clever username

I honestly don't care what you bought/have. The biggest problem I have are the hypocrites. Don't preach "company A" only copies parts and sells them for cheap and say it is bad for the hobby. Then openly post "look at me" type threads boasting your latest purchase, only to find out "company B" and "company C" does the samething as "company A" which is making and selling copied/cloned products.

I have some parts from "company A, B, C, and etc..." from the lots of parts I purchase sometimes blindly.

KM thread for KM.Infraction points will be added to those who seem it is appropriate to slag KM off in their own thread.
