@Trebor, i cant seem to send pms for some reason.

The engine cost $925 when new. I think i may break it up and sell it. Would like to keep the carb and clutch though. Will have to see lol

I do not think you will have a copy in your sent folder when you send a PM. I know mine does not send one automatically when I send a PM. I all so do not get email notification of PM when someone sends me one. I did get both of your PMs.

i had an oddified beast engine in a sandrail i built, it had a full wet nos kit with oddified ecu, it was dyno'd at a reliable 12hp and 5nm of torque, there very underrated engines.

here's one of the early dyno printouts before it was run in and properly tuned

Ah see now you making me think about keeping it lol.

My original plans were to stuff it with an OBR+3 crank then maybe have some portwork done. But i cant find the crank on obrs site

mine had +2 crank and was pushing out 7hp+ with WSE exhaust which was quite restrictive with a decent exhaust 8hp+ off nos would be easy.

He is talking about a long rod not a stroker crank. Big difference. Now much run time do you have on it with NOS? Does the system you have put extra fuel in when on NOS?

my bad:D
don't suppose you have any vids of it running??

Youve just made me want to keep it haha

Where did you buy the nos kit and was it effective??

I got the NOS kit from ian oddifiled, he's probably one of the best engine builders in europe, he built a separate ECU to control the NOS i can program it to kick in at any revs for any duration and it will also adjust the timing and provide a 50ms sec initial pulse to protect the drive train

Here's a pic of his mk2 engine timing ECU with temperature probe and Nos ECU,

Does the system you run when on the NOS inject more fuel as well like on 1 to 1 vehicles? How much NOS have you run through your motor?

Here's a few more details in Ian's own words, he can explain it better than me, i've used about 20oz so far.

"The jets are 5 for fuel and 10 for nitrous, the venom injectors are mounted in a custom sandwich plate between the carb and insulator block at an angle to induce swirl into the intake for better mixing. The fuel supply is specially tapped into the carb using the walbro diaphragm pump, this supplies around 3.5psi pressure and sufficient fuel flow for up to a max of around 18bhp. Above that a separate pump would be required. The system is designed to use liquid nitrous, as with any nitrous system liquid nitrous is the only way to get any serious gains in power, delivering a far greater/denser mixture. The nitrous phase change on entry into the engine cools the charge immensely and reduces the chance of detonation. The system is designed for liquid n2o and the bottle will be orientated so the dip tube in the bottle picks it up, there's no chance the engine will hydraulic. As the fuel is being tapped out of the normal carb, the fuel is pumped all the time, but as with most nitrous controllers the ecu is programmed to delay the nitrous solenoid activation by 50mS to allow the time for the slower travelling fuel to be delivered to the engine at the same time. The ecu also controls the rpm window of operation and activation at full throttle (wot)"

So the answer to my question is yes. Some RC systems only inject NOS which makes much harder on the motor then with a gas NOS mix. NOS gas mixture is still hard on a engine and can only be run for short burst all so you better have a clear long path. LOL When you inject NOS it adds oxygen and with out the extra fuel you run lean.

With 20oz of NOS about how many times do you get on the NOS? Do you drag race? Would be nice to see a video of your rig.

You got it, on the systems that just inject NOS the motors never last long because they're either to rich and run like a pig off nitrous or to lean so the nitrous has no effect and you blow your motor in a matter of seconds.

Its taken me about 5mths to get thru 20oz, i usually have it set to kick in when it changes gear, it actually works really well because you don't need 12hp all the time, i think its all well and good having these big engines but you need a hell of a large area to open them up, on any normal day 7-8hp is more than enough for any average weight baja, with this set up i've got the best of both worlds.
