I thought I would have a thread on this forum aswell for my newly bought Monster. It is a Maverick but it is basically the same as the Redcat (I guess you can say it is the European version of the Redcat)

I received it last week and first impression was, wow this is a BIG truck. I have studied the truck carefully the whole evening and it feels really well engineered and robust built.

I will take the truck apart and let the dremel work magic on the engine and also install some outwears. Future upgrades will be:

WT 990 carb
Shearhead V-stack
DDM Dominator pipe
HPI Baja airfilter

Thread will be updated continously!

First I started to remove the engine and also turn around the tank so that I can install my DDM Dominator when it arrives. I love how easy it is to work with this truck. 5 screws and then the engine came out. Great!

Now I am just waiting for all upgrades so that I can install them. To be continued. Some pictures:

Get rid of the stock servos they are garbage, could cause a runaway.

I have already replaced the throttle servo with a Savöx 1256TG. For steering it will be dual Savöx 35kg servos. Killswitch is also installed :)

Does look good!

Are there any Monster Jam trucks using that body?

As part of the upgrade, as the body will naturally deteriorate, could get a clear one and get painted in correct MJ theme ..... :D:D ;)

I will see what I can do later this year :)

Today I have greased and installed boots on the drive shafts. Hopefully this will make the life longer on both the shafts and the drivecups. I also did the vent mod on the gastank which i necessary since the vent hole in the gas cap is minimal.

I also put some fueltubing in the diffcups to keep the dogbones centered when suspension is fully extended. Next step, port the engine and install the V-stack and WT990 carb :)

Yesterday I took the engine apart and did some porting. I removed very little material since I don`t want to loose too much bottom end torque. I did widen the inlet, outlet and did some small eyebrows.

I also installed a 9500rpm clutch spring and installed the KillerBee killswitch.

I think you'll like it as well...

I might have over looked the thread, but what are you going to use for a pipe ?

Yeah, I use the WT990 on my Baja 5B and I like it alot aswell.

The pipe on this truck will be the DDM Dominator for the Rampage.

Today came my aluminium gearplate and my rubber sealed bearings. It is a really nice piece of aluminium :) I also got a call from my local hobbyshop that my Dominator pipe had arrived!

I think a Redcat MT is going to be my next 1/5 scale. Nice truck you have there, and I like the direction your mods are going. Should be a real nice setup.

Great job! My girl laughs at me because I'm always working on my MT, she doesn't understand the hobby I guess.... Im wondering where your going to store the killer bee switch? I added a small box to Keep all the wiring under control. Keep us posted!!!!!

I hear you man. My girl is exactly the same :) Regarding the killswitch I plan to store it in the radiobox. There is plenty of space in there so it should not be a problem I guess.

Another question.... Where did you get the dust boots?

The boots are original HPI Baja boots. You could also go with the Hostile boots. They are even better. Both can be found att DDM.
