Still a blast to drive! There are no tracks where I live right now (Oahu) but there's always plenty of places to bash.
After a month of having my truck I haven't broken anything yet *knock on wood* but I did upgrade things I felt needed to be improved.
Here's some pics of the third tank I ran through in its stock configuration.
After the third tank I hit the web and ordered parts left and right.
In the pic:
Kraken fueler (gas cap attachment)
Team Orion LIFE battery
RC Armor brake bracket
Jofer RC aluminum servo clamps
Superbee killswitch
Losi Tuned pipe
RB innovations pull start filter
CY round filter
I modified the airfilter for the pullstart system by laying screen mesh over the filter and then locking it in place with the mounting ring. I also added mesh over the cy round filter. Overall the cy round filter stayed clean but it was a PITA to get the lip off for foam cleaning.
The brake bracket made a world of difference with the stock servo. I am currently looking into keeping the heat away from the servo since the bracket transfers heat from the diff.
The servo clamps also helped a ton with steering fade along with the LIFE battery. Overall I have about 10 tanks through now and the stock servos are still working for me *knock on wood*.
After about two tanks with the losi tuned pipe I noticed a wet spot on the rollcage near where the pipe joins. It turns out the blue coupler it comes with and the way the header and pipe join make for a leaky pipe joint. Went to my nearest hardware store and picked up some repair tape

Three passes and I ended up with this
No more leaks :w00t:
After this I hated the amount of leaves I was getting inside the body plus the cy round filter, as great as it was, was just too much hassle to get the lip off. So off to the web again to find some kind of rollcage cover and another filter system.
For a cover the obvious one was the outerwears shroud. Threw it in the cart and didn't look back...until I realized I was still looking for a new filter system.
Then I ran into this gem *I am in no way affiliated with this company other than buying their products*
http://rc-car-online.de/shop/en/pro...r-losi-5ive-t-with-velocity-stack-1-pce-.html
I could not find this exact item anywhere else! I had to have it!
Browsing their site I also found this other gem as well
http://rc-car-online.de/shop/en/products/y0789-y0789-chassis-mud-flaps-for-losi-5ive-t.html
:w00t: Again I couldn't find this exact item anywhere else and I had to have it! Threw both those items in the cart and crossed my fingers.
These two items were delivered to me in Oahu from Germany. Ordered on a Tuesday and received the items that Friday...hella fast!
So now I was stuck with the dilemma of which cover to use...why not both?
I started by installing the german cover
And then threw the outerwears over that
As you can see the outerwears overlapped the german cover...not bad if it wasn't for the fact that the outerwears were designed to "hug" the chassis via velcro. I didn't like this combo. So I stepped backward and rolled the outerwears cover inside the german cover. Definitely alot better!
Now for the airfilter! This thing is awesome. It uses an aluminum base plate the same dimensions as the stock filter base. And then incorporates a velocity stack that fits inside the stock filter housing and sits on top of the mounting bolts. This thing is just amazing! It also adds strength to the backside of the stock losi filter which I read tends to be a weak spot in this area.
Dark shot but you can see the aluminum base with the stock housing mounted.
I also added some blue shock covers but only after all these pics were taken. Overall I am very happy and pleased with this platform.
I can say the outerwears shroud and the german cover made a HUGE difference in the amount of debris that I find inside the body after a long grass bash.
The RB innovations pull start filter system is definitely performing great as well. I have never purchased a single RB innovations product ever. I saw this system and I literally said "meh why not".
A minor note, I tried using the stage8 header locking fasteners and while the concept is sound and the item is of great quality it just did not play nice with the losi tuned pipe. It works with most other pipes that have a wide gap between the mounting bolt location and the header pipe but the losi tuned pipe is too close to use it. With this pipe I ended up using locking rings and thread locker.
I hope you enjoyed this long read and picture show. I know I am thoroughly enjoying mysef. :w00t:
