So I picked up my first 1/5th scale vehicle, this FG Sportsline 4WD Audi RS5 DTM .

When buying it I knew I wasn't going to keep it stock. I started picking up option parts for it, before ever driving it. It was a late Christmas gift to myself, and it wasn't touring car weather on the roads by me. So that gave me some time to research and pick up some option parts. Being impatient, they slowly started making their way onto the car. This thread will highlight my build, along with pictures and my opinions-though I may not have many, I'm a rookie to 1/5 scale.

So, first things first, a kill switch from Killer RC:

Next was the foam bumper:

I didn't want to use the supplied bumper becasue I would have lost the front mounting points. I used the kit's bumper as a template and drilled the stock bumper.

Looking forward to running it very soon. I started it up last weekend and had it idle and vary some revs through a half a tank of fuel for a pre-break in, and to make sure I didn't have any fuel leaks. I was very impressed with the sound of the stock pipe. I'm hoping to run it a few times and then upgrade the pipe to a Jet-Pro or Samba. Any feedback/opinions/experiences would be greatly appreciated on that. Thanks for viewing, and hopefully there will be much more to come!

Good job on the build thread, lots of nice upgrades. You might consider the Samba 7 tuned pipe for 1/5 scale FG 4WD models and front universal drive shafts.

Looks very good. I can't speak for the jet pro pipe but I know the samba works awesome. Please keep us updated car looks great. I have some of the same mods as you. I'm sure you'll be very pleased.

Here's a little video of my first couple of runs with it. I picked up another body for it, just so I have a pretty one for when it's parked. As for the car, I think I'm in love lol...

This being my first 1/5th scale touring car, I have nothing to compare them too. I never ran the car with the original wheels/tires. But I can tell you that these were very slippery until the coating was off and they were broken it.

Cold tires don't grip well. They need 2 or 3 laps to get up to temp before you get good traction, that's with all tires. I've been very tempted to try out those SP tires on fleabay as well.

Great job. You've given me some ideas. What work stand are you using for the FG? I have been searching high and low for one but haven't had any luck.

Thanks. I have a decent collection of items that will make their debut on eBay in the coming months. Yes, I plan to attend SWCS.... Well that's the plan as of now, anyway. I don't have much track time under my belt yet so I hope the race isn't a complete disaster when I do get out there with the other racers.
