Bought a completly stock MTXL used a few weeks back and have been on the hunt for a decent engine and gearing combo for it. I have the OBR signature series 34cc reed ordered. Have all sorts of FID driveline aluminum parts coming housings etc for the diffs. Plus the FID DBXL CD mount and brake assembly. I realize the stock 67T spur won't fit the DBXL FID mount without shimming it. The thing is, with that OBR engine I wonder if I could pull off the 20/61 gearing the DBXL uses. Then no modification would be needed for the FID mount and possibly have a fairly fast MTXL. I am also getting the Vertigo clutch bell and pinion with the Bartalone carrier. Any input would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!

Put a strip of ducttape inside the wheels. all the way around. Do a few rounds if you have a particularly crazy engine and no more baloon. I haven't began modding my mtxl yet ,so....

Hey @G-Man Souds like you have some nice parts on order.
The mtxl and dbxl are almost the same truck(y)
don't see why the 20/61 dbxl gearing would not work:unsure:.
Thanks! The way I figure it, the engine should be fine with that gearing. Appreciate your input
Main isses will b tyre ballooning with a crazy engine..(y)mine do's it with a stock zen29 atm...(n)....can only imagine how bad it'll b with double the power:ROFLMAO:....
Taping of the tires will be done for sure, thanks
Gearing combo recommendatios?

Decided to go ahead with the DBXL pinion and spur for this truck. Going to be a busy winter getting all these parts installed. Already wishing for spring!!

Make sure you scuff up the inside of your tires with sand paper some 120 grit should do fine. Then wipe down with rubbing alcohol. Helps the tape stick better.
Thanks! Been doing that on my 8th scales for years. Recently implemented into my 5th scales. I do it exactly how you said. Scuff up and clean with alcohol. I find 3m duct tape sticks better than gorilla tape. 20180608_210248.jpg

Well the Signature Series OBR g340 arrived. To My surprise there isn't a TR clutch housing on it. No option in the drop-down for it either. Oh well I have one already, will be fine. Now this MTXL should rip well

It took about 2 weeks to arrive. I got it during the black Friday sale
Love the new wrap they stick on........wonder if they sale it seperate:unsure:....thats not a v2 reed is it?
Those stickers are pretty cool, although I'm not sure how long it will last. Yes it is a V2 reed case

Made some progress since my last post. I went with everything FID makes for the driveline. Also replaced all three plastic diff gear carriers with dbxl-e all metal center diff gear carriers. Using the FID CD mount and brake assembly 20181223_142205.jpg

Thanks Man. It's getting there. I am going to use the TR air filter relocator with this reed engine. It tucks in there under the body nicely. The Crazy Stu ya need to cut the body to fit.
