I heard somewhere that gear oil is great assembly lube, opinions on this? I don't really see why not.

Yes, but my thought process is, gear oil is much thicker than 2t oil (I'm pretty sure) so it would give better protection for the first start,If you're talking about for when you put your engine together I would just use your favorite 2 stroke oil . Granted I've never put together a 2 stroke engine so what do I know.![]()
