+1 for going through Dave's Motors. BEST in the biz! Hopefully some day they will get their Hostile tire manufacturing issues resolved and get those back in stock.

The pipe on your rig is the stock SS "tuned pipe". It's a modest gain over using the can that came stock on the non SS cars, but nothing to really write home about. The DDM Dominator is worlds better.

On Axle Extenders: I'm running the Darksouls on my truck and it's a quite a bit more stable in tight cornering situations. Not required, but certainly stabilizes these squirrely 2WDs. Less roll in high traction cornering. I also took off the rear sway bar. That helped a lot with reducing oversteer.

A good tuned pipe and better carb is the best thing you can do for the stock motor. I'm still running my stocker with a Walbo 990 carb, nice tuned pipe, and an adjustable clutch and it's a completely different car from stock. And it just...won't...die!

If you want to go up in motor without breaking the bank, you should save some bucks and get a g320RC. If you want to build it, you can just get a long block, 990 or 1107 carb, clutch housing, shroud and insulator, and transplant all the other parts from your stocker over to it. It won't save a ton of money that way (only about $50), but it could still be a fun project!

Big thanks for that detailed reply (y), I was thinking the same hostile knobby tires to run on grass but they seem out of stock on DDM for a while like you said. I will probably buy new rodeo 5SC tires and buy another wheel set to run old tires, probably will pick up axle extenders as you have and I'll have to look into what carb came with stock 26cc engine and then I might consider upgrading to 990:unsure: ? ( is the difference noticable from stock carb to 990 ).
I might save engine swap for winter project. ?⚙
What tire beeds do you suggest running, is there difference between options that you can buy or they all do rougly same job.

Should be a night and day difference between carbs

It 100% is night and day. The stock 668 is a complete waste of time and effort. I've never run the 1107, but the 990 is a complete beast, and is still easy to tune. Don't let the lack of choke scare you. They're still stupid easy to start. Just give 2 or 3 slow puIls after priming, and let her rip. I would give the 990 the edge in that the choke plate is not there to restrict airflow, however slight it might be, but you really can't go wrong with either. The SS should already have an 8k clutch spring, so you will see an immediate difference. If you plug in a better pipe, you will really see what that engine can do! The DDM Dominator V2 has really good low end punch. Don't get the truck version if you are looking to eventually add a Class 1 sand rail cage though. It won't fit with the wrap around truck pipe.

For beadlocks, you can't go wrong with the Silverback or DDM beads. They're essentially the same.

@AnubisBC the 1107 and 990 are basically comparable in running difference and the 1107 has a slightly larger venturi so any loss of airflow from the choke is a moot point. I like the choke personally. Just my preference.
Id do 1107 like Sean suggests, becuase of the choke becuase I had a chokeless 813 and it was a SOB to start even when tuned correctly, vs my 668 with a choke was very easy. Also if yer wondering, there diffenetly was a difference between the 668 and the 813, with the 813 I could wheelie almost on command (not like a sustained wheelie, just would pop the wheels up for a couple seconds then come down vs with the 668 I couldn't unless the engine was still warming up) when tuned (on a 30.5cc rovan) so I deffo suggest a carb change, just don't get a 813 as they suck to tune. Also likely won't notice a difference in the 2 (990 and 1107) so do whatever you want, I'm just putting my 2cents out der.

Thanks for massive imput, really impressed how many people show interest and all the help with replys that I've got is so awesome.(y)
So far ended speding 300US on full set of proline trenchers, air filter and pull start covers, dominator pipe black, darksoul axle extenders and 6000 rpm clutch spring ( just to see how it goes ).
I think carb will be on my next shopping trip along more tires and one more wheel set.
Gotta paint my body now and little beast will be ready to rip around.
Big thanks to everyone that helped out with their replys.

Sweet jesus!!!? we may have just created another addiction ........he is already 50% over budget ?????????

@Exorcist I would send that 6k RPM spring back to DDM and get the 9k spring instead. The 6k spring will engage the clutch much lower in the engine's RPM range, which will result in bogging. You won't get that hard snap right off the line with the stock motor on that spring. But hey, if it works for you, go for it! It's certainly a smaller portion of your current spend and gives you some options!

Very smart on getting pre-filter covers. They will extend the life of your motor and make cleaning much, much easier.

The axle extenders will definitely stabilize your truck in high traction situations. And it makes teh stance just a bit more badass. Not a bad spend there either.

Would love to hear how those Trenchers work for ya. Did you get the Dominator V2 Truck pipe, or the normal Dom V2? If you got the truck pipe, I'd love to see some vids with it on your stock motor. I'm running a similar Jetpro pipe myself.

We are always here to help, and are looking forward to seeing what you do with your truck!

We have some amazing sand dunes within driving distance, so this fall/winter I'll be installing sand paddles and an enclosed clutch carrier to take advantage of them. Might grab some of those trenchers next spring though. There's still a lot of life left in my hostile MXTs, but the fronts are way too grabby on grass.

Lil' update, I have gotten tires, pipe, axle extenders in and ready to be installed among other little parts that I ordered. Now that I took apart old wheels I feel like beed lock is complete waste to reuse, and I will probably have to make another other of DDM ( which I'm same time happy and not happy abouth ? ?‍♂️)
So in this order I plan to buy carburator ( what would I need for it, I have stock one can I reuse all the mounting hardware for it and buy just the 1107 / 990 carb from DDM ), any thoughts on aluminum cage risers to go along with my dominator v2 pipe so it doesn't melt the cage. What beed lock do you suggest to pick up ?
What do you think of front molds for tires are they usable even though they are split down the side ?

So yes, you can reuse everything off your old carb, just make sure to buy new gaskets, reusing gaskets is a terrible idea, I'm sure you know that. I have no opinion on the cage risers becuase I've never owned one. For the beadlocks, hostile and silverback rc make great affordable ones, not sure which one is better but either are great, for the foams, I'm not sure if those are useable, my foams never split so I wouldn't know

Silverback's come as a set of 4 and cost the same as hostile beadlocks that only come as a pack of 2???
