My dbxl eats servos

Here we go again....so read back to my original post...yep rebuilt absolutely everything took it out. My state is on full don't leave your house order. So I had the dbxl out front of my house. I live on a normal ass residential block. O understand normal changes depending on where you live and neighborhood and such. I have never measured it. Any how let's assume it's like 20x30 max is like 30x40...it's small. I drove around. Circles, figure 8's and run it up and down the street a few times. All was well. Finally ran it out of gas. When I was carrying it back to the house I bumped the house getting servo popped of. No biggie I forgot to lock tite it on. Into basement fix blah blah blah all is well. Take it back out side fuel it up...lose steering 20' in. What gives? Do savox servos suck that bad? I'm hoping it's a gear I didn't destroy last time. My servo saver is like not event attached the spring is fully extended. It's getting ridiculous.

Attached is a picture of the model servo I have and where my servo saver is set at. Once again...I wasn't driving hard by any means. Just slowly cruising around. Front end moves like butter or ky your choice. Something isn't right.

Thanks

Something is amiss, I have literally the same servo just the yellow version in my dbxl. I however have the factory servo saver. Not that I think it has much to do with the issue per say. Do you have your EPA and trim set up right?

Yes all is well setting and trim wise. The worse part is...I just tore it down...functions flawlessly out of the case. I don't know if in tech savvy enough to post a video. But servo in hand operates like it should. I'm done til morning I'll mess with it some more. Just frustrating. I was all happy and smiling and such nothing broke as I slowly drove on circles lol....I bumped my house while carrying the damn thing now this lmao sometimes I hate this hobby

Take it apart and inspect this gear. It’s the one in the middle top. Savox sending me a new gear set and screws. It’s a bugger! Clean the Phillips out with a pick that’ll make it less stressful. I hope that doesn’t happen to me once I rebuild it A53F116C-501A-4A9D-8107-C7B4601C814F.jpegEB88F277-57A5-4E7F-94C0-D139C4C32530.jpeg

Only 3 possible explanations. Voltage, trims, and mechanical. Voltage and trims are easy to check, so you know whats left. Perhaps it only binds under load somehow.
Ok I’ll jump in.
my voltage was set to 7.4 volt
Trims set, I’m funny this way. I always check the trims.
Servo saver in a position that never damaged the stock servo. Running stock servo now. Another 5 charges no issues.
mine was mechanical failure.
im thinking to touch a file to that gear. See if it is hardened at all.
I’m thinking it’s not.
I hope this savox 1/5 scale servo failure isn’t part of the pandemic. Lol

I haven't done anything yet. This is all last night lol. I just got out of bed. This no work thing is killing me.

I sure hope it's in one piece that's the one I trashed last time when I was having all the problems that started this whole ordeal...Wich means I'll need another gear set.

UPDATE: So took it apart last night...like I said it worked fine outside of the case. Inspected gears real good with just a visual and a pick and my flashlight. Saw absolutely nothing. Slowly out it back together and hit it with power every single time waiting for something to pop or skip or so something out of the ordinary. And nothing

Long story short it's back in and working fine on my bench...I'll give it few hours don't know if the neighbors like me ripping this thing at 10am lol but the smell of 2 stroke maybe they'll come around

Another update: cancel everything you read above. I worked fine on my bench. Took it outside. Had the front wheels hanging off my porch all is well. Started it. Set it down to run it and nothing. That damn servo motor just spins like there is no tomorrow. So, I've got a new gear set coming and top and bottom cases....cuz well the screws are stripped from Amazon. I also overnighted a bunch of stuff from Dave's and got that other Hitec servo that someone recommended. And since I paid for overnight I got a few extra horns to now work on my collection of servos...and a bunch of other stuff I didn't "need" sometimes I'm glad I'm single lol

So not good news, bit tomorrow should be better.

Soo, I took it out this morning. I managed to run my first FULL tank through it without breaking a single component. Steering held up amazingly. Naturally I ordered a bunch of additional stuff I didn't need. But, I needed the servo like yesterday so my as well load up my cart with extra goodies if i'm paying the big bucks for overnight shipping lol. One of my "extras" was the HD shock springs. I know they have mixed reviews...however with factory springs at WOT if i cut wheel left or right it would roll over. Not with these things. I'm totally content with its performance.

Around the block from me i have a large neighborhood park...like 2 full city blocks size. Started driving around the open field, good to go. Took it over to the half frozen sand for the volleyball courts. It was all rutted out from either a quad or sxs who knows. Performed well. Few good passes through the parking lot than took it over to the former basketball court. That area has a large 4-6ft berm around it i assume to not let the ball get into traffic...hit those "jumps" a few times. All is well...nothing broke. It was a good outing...rise and repeat for an entire tank. Got about an hour and 15 minutes out of it.

Now to clean this darn thing, next few days are going to be super sunny. It was 40F when i was out
