@trxrdr17 back in the 80's when I had a bunch of Tamiya cars, we would replace all the bushings with bearings. If the car had a 380 motor we upgraded to a 540. If it had a 540, we replaced it with a 540 Black. IMO, I would look to upgrade the motor, esc, and larger batteries.

This showed up in my recommended feed today. Might be feasible in the DBXL.

We have to accept that some people don't want to deal with the gas engine. And that's ok. I like my 1/8 and 1/10 scale e words. So does my daughter. She loves the dbxl but that's too crazy for her to handle.
To the op. The normal upgrades will help as well, chassis braces, skid plates. Flm shafts. From there it's more less upgrade as you brake. Let the arms plastic, you need a cheap weak link. Myself and a few of the other guys run axle extenders. Really helped with handling. Although when I break another arm. I'll likely buy the flm extended arm kit. Make sure you have a bearing set on hand. Fast eddy makes decent kit. I'd ditch the goof ball size tires the dbxl comes with in favor of the baja 5t front size. I'd love to hear how thos shocks hold up on the 2.0 the 1.0 gas and e word were trash imo. I ended up upgrading to 5ive t shocks. Let me see..... I think that covers the basics of the platform. Alloy diff housings would a good idea, but not needed right away imo.
