Hey guys, Im coming to the end of my 5t brushless conversion build.. (my first 1/5 scale). I opted for the Flier 400a 12s ESC, Castle 800kv, Castle 12s BEC.. my question is how do i set up the brake servo so that when i want to use reverse the brakes won’t engage? I have a Sanwa MT44. i know it can be done but I’m a newb at this. Any help and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance!

Maybe need to have a servo on the brakes and program it into the transmitter...im not 100% but just taking a stab at it
Yup! Just trying to figure out the logistics of it. My thoughts this far is to have the brake servo on CH3 assign that to the trigger to work together with ch2.. and assign a button to disengage it when i need reverse.. the crawler guys would know how to do this (brake mixing).. unfortunately I’ve only been back at this hobby a little over a year so the technical stuff is beyond me. I’m getting there.. slowly.. thanks for the response

On my fly sky you hit the brakes let off then hit them again for reverse in the axial. But that was an esc setting, and I don't have mechanical brakes to deal with. Basically you hit the brakes to stop, let off and hit the brakes again to reverse. Drag brakes were another setting in the esc. Didnt have to do any mixing in the radio. May want to look into the programmable settings in your esc.

yeah that’s a bit different.. I’ve been too busy building this beast to mess with my controller I’m still waiting on a receiver anyway.. the one i have has an internal antenna and i don't want that... I’m 95% done..

This is what this guy did and it seemed to work??Screenshot_20201022-110822_Chrome.jpg

Or you would have to set the brakes to a diff channel and manually activate the servo to work or manually deactivate it when you want to use reverse. Whats wrong with the esc brakes?

thanks for that.. thought about doing like that.. slow reverse and setting the brake servo loose enough to still be able to reverse.. The ESC brakes will work but I’m worried about heat & wear and tare.. car is around 35lbs and i don’t think it’ll be good in the long term

No problem but figured the bigger esc for the bigger car wouldn't be a problem but I don't know much about ewords??‍♂️

i figured it out.. it was easy.. I used throttle mixing and paired ch3 w ch2. Changed the endpoint on the throttle/brake servo to only use brake.. then i assigned the aux button to turn off channel 3 so the mechanical brakes don’t engage in reverse.. success!! I just have to make sure that ch3 is engaged or i don’t accidentally press it!!

Thanks for the help
