+1 if you are mechanically inclined and stick around this forum a close to new used 5t 2.0 is your best bet. Before you buy send us a link and we can tell you if it’s a good purchase or not. Try to find local also! I drove 2.5 hours for my first losi but it was worth it because I could see what I was buying before I got itNow that Uncle Sugar's unemployment has ended and people exhaust the free $600, there will probably be some near new 5ive Ts hitting the market.
The previous recommendations are spot on but their price to get started is low. Most here already had RCs and the necessary components to get up and running. I came back into RC starting from scratch with a new 5ive-T 2.0 and easily spent over 2k.
At a minimum with cost of rig and tax you are going to need a transmitter, battery, battery charger, and a kill switch. That should put you close to 2k. Then you will come back asking why your air filter, flywheel and starter are packed with debris. Then you're buying outer wears or doing mesh mods.
Your second topic after driving a 5ive-T will be "how I do stop the exhaust from spraying all over the inside of the body?". The recommendation and only real solution is a new pipe. Now we are well over 2k and you haven't even broken anything or started on the path of upgrading.
Don't let this deter you from buying. Just save up some more and get a new 5ive-T. It's one of the best things you can spend money on and the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
This is how I just scored the rc's I picked up. If you have cash ready to go plenty of good deals on used rc's. Alot of used 5th's are barely used. If I was a seller 1k would buy any of my rigsNow that Uncle Sugar's unemployment has ended and people exhaust the free $600, there will probably be some near new 5ive Ts hitting the market.

Losi jackals? What the hell is that supposed to mean? I think nearly every member here owns a baja."Best" is a subjective term. I like 2wd and 4wd buggies personally.... best for me was a baja I got a good deal on.
I won't get off into opinions on bajas here, I think the losi jackals are running a bit thick in this thread for my taste, but a decent, running HPI can be had for 500. If you look you'll find a 5ive platform there as well. Some of the hpi clones can be made to be quite nice buggies for 600 or so, but that's upgrading out of the box...
Buying used does come with the requirement you want to learn to fix things, and are willing, but that's fifth scale in general
It was a jab and a bit of a joke, at the losi fanatics that get amped up about bajas on various forums.Losi jackals? What the hell is that supposed to mean? I think nearly every member here owns a baja.
Me twizzled? Over a company that doesn't even exist, never.? actually just got my first HPI a few days ago. Fun car, definitely still a 4wd fan though. It was a jab and a bit of a joke, at the losi fanatics that get amped up about bajas on various forums.
Don't get to twizzled.... I own both too ;-)
