Yep ! are there spacers between the bearing/rod and the side of the crank ? thrust washers@buzzkill i did see what your talking about. It appears that rod was actually making contact with the bearing cage and not just on the rollers
a very small amount is normalLittle off topic here but when I took out my exhaust I insert my finger and I can push the piston side to side a little. Is this normal?

IF ??? I remember correctly there is usually about 0.003-0.005" smaller diameter to allow for thermal expansion of the piston , I think this gets larger with bigger bores ? The rings have all the compression , pistons are just carriers LOL ! not really but.Just at the piston if I remember correctly, not on the crank.
You shouldn't really be able to feel much movement in the piston, may be just a little.
