No I'm actually worried the $300 is better than my Rovan. Cause then I'll have to buy it. ?
Well call your local Pipe maker and have them send me a pipe to test is the best solution really , they can use it as a sales and marketing platform or not. Or I could just sell them the top spot LMFAO ! J/K !!

I did compare my Rovan pipe to my DDM V1 dom. pipe and there was not a huge difference.
I am comparing everything to a Stock CAN exhaust.

Basically IF you want a pipe tested I will test it and publish a list , IF NOT then don't , no skin off my back.

Great idea, I think you're on the right thinking path of controlling any negative testing variables, good data is a huge bonus for all . I skimmed over your other dyno post and as far as a "pipe shootout" I would not get too wrapped up around the "max hp" numbers your dyno produces. What your dyno pipe shootout will prove is how each individual pipe differently mitigates the hp and torque outputs. So many guys all they want to see is the max hp , and 99% of the time that is a useless number for the typical recreationally RC guy. Broad Torque curves is what makes for impressive and "fun" observed power, NOT peaky hp spikes.

I agree but the setup I have is more "STATIC " you really need a Inertia dyno to know the TORQUE CURVE of a pipe or just a better dyno LOL this IS a LOW COST design so. I can try a 6k rpm spring and see if that gives me more of the low end on a pipe ? .
I have a few that I could send ya but this shipping stuff is so hit or miss I would be scared my pipes would come up MIA. Not trying to take the chance but good thinking tho. Wish you was nearby I would bring em to ya.
Ya I hear ya , I would use UPS with insurance at a minimum , I actually have not had any issues but some have.
I want to try my 5t dominator pipe.
Let me know !

I have the silenced DDM V2 pipe and your welcome to borrow it for your "shootout"

A db test on each pipe at a given rpm would also be good data .

Sounds good , I don't have a setup to do DB readings right now , I do have a recording studio but not near the Dyno lol , I'll PM you later
I think this could be a good idea for stock engine results, there are a lot of variables depending on the engine set up. Would be interesting to see for sure. Let me think about it for a bit, as the 5ive is parked till spring.
Like I said gonna use my STOCK Rovan 32cc

Try just a header
We did that once on one of our engines when we were thinking of building ones for giant scale airplane racing. Lost 3 hp but pulled like crazy up to about 8500 rpm if I remember right. Been over 25 yrs ago so do not remember all the details on it. This was just a 5 inch long header we used I cut off of one of our pipes.

Try just a header
If by "just a header" you mean a short section of straight pipe, this will not work and actually kill hp. All 2 stroke pipes need to have a start of a small dia pipe which flows into a larger dia "mid section" , then tapering back down to a smaller dia. This design creates "scavenging pulses" which is critically necessary for allowing a 2 stroke engine to make full power.

WOW that sounds like and " EXPANSION CHAMBER " lmfao

How about this , we do a Pipe Shootout ?? compare all these high end and stock pipes on the same motor No changes except the Pipe ??

1. use a 32cc motor ( we can use mine )
2. ONLY change the pipe
3. run it several times and adjust for temps humidity. etc. ( I'll record them )
4. see what we get , I will record load , rpm, EGT temp ( Exhaust ) amb. temps ,humidity
5. i'll make the throttle programmed so it is the same for each run.

Just a thought ?

Any suggestions ?
I have a crappy Rovan pipe on my stock Losi 5ive T 2.0. I just posted my first YouTube video. Check it out running. Been using all the original servo's and 31.8 cc Zen G320rc. Had it a year now a very strong for stock. Youtube. (wingman777)

You need back pressure into the engine.

I agree about the back pressure..and I’ve always been under the assumption that for 2 strokes the pipe is crucial to tuning the torque range hi/low end and the fatter the pipe from about mid pipe is better low end...had my first born racing mx at 4 yrs old...spent every weekend from one end of Illinois to the other racing...he’s 26 now...long time ago...anyway my point was I’m pretty familiar with 2 strokes and even did top end rebuild between moto’s and that’s where I got that intell..btw I have that same Rovan pipe and I’m definitely curious how it’d perform against those expensive ones

Wow never claimed to know it all jus how I’ve understood the “back pressure” and what the pipe does...sorry my ignorance offended ya bro...I’m old and still learning...I’ll take my talk glass of “stfu” and drop out of this convo

No offense was taken,or meant. I just explained this recently. I believe in this thread, we are all ignorant of the oscar we don't know, and I merely pointed out that what you believed was wrong. Although I have 0 tact in doing so.
