My new to me hpi 5sc! Pics inside!!

Hey guys, so I took a long break rcs in general, it’s been a few good years or working on or building bajas. My last Baja I built was a rovan 5t with a custom built g320. These are my first ever real hpi rigs so I plan do go right through them and build them the way I always wanted to build a Baja..
I could never really afford an hpi Baja only could afford the cheap rovan and king motors, and well no matter how much money I put into them at the end of the day it was still a rovan or km and ppl frown on them so I had to go with hpi this time, but now I’m in it for the long haul.
So I picked up a slightly used Hpi Baja 5sc with a new g290 in it with what I believe could be a victory rc pipe, but I am unsure!! The other is a project hpi Baja 5b with a 23cc engine and ddm pipe. I’m not sure what I have here but I know they came with a lot of parts and I think I made out alright. Here are a few pics of my mess lol.. I guess I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to start as far as upgrading and what not. It’s not my first time but I’ve been gone a while. Some stuffs changed.

Thanks, It’s a good thing I got a lot of new parts with it cause I don’t know where I’d go to get them. I have enough parts to build 1 more maybe 2 bajas here. A lot of turtle racing parts and stuff.

Dave's discount motors (ddm) is the go to place for parts. Detroit performance is another good option.

I loved my rovan man, not talking them down at all cause honestly my buddies all run hpi and my rovan g320 stayed with them all!!
My rovan 5b converted to 5t with zenoah g320.. loved this Baja so much but everyone made fun of it cause it was a “wanna be hpi” lol oh well. I just found the 2 hpis locally so I grabbed them

I agree with rcjunkie, while I do think hpis are better then rovans in some ways, who gives a feck what someone else says ? just run it ?

Some more pics of the sc. I’m gonna concentrate on building one at a time lol but the sc is my most favorite of the 2. The 5b has a lot of add ones but needs the motor to be built. Should I a-t-il with the 29cc or go with a g320 again? never had a 29cc in any of my bajas. Also, can anyone tell me if this is a knock off vrc pipe or is it the real deal.

well , sort of. there are clones of them, but they are never raw and always chrome, they also look extremely cheap and easy to spot a mile away

Actually the version you have is the vrc bigbore. The version z just showed is the regular non bigbore version.
On another note I would put a shroud on that engine. The flywheel acts as a cooling fan and the shroud directs the air where it needs to be.

Nice glad to know this. I’ve been looking at a lot of Rovan look alikes and I wasn’t sure. Makes me feel better
