Get that pipe clean and shiny first, it is key. My pipe I did very quickly yesterday with no polishing, just wd40 after. Small handheld tip on the map gas torch to do the bands. It's very simple..I'll polish mine and re color band it again like I said before, I'd like my bands a little smaller and my pipe shiny. There will be no scratches in mine when I'm done. This pipe is steel.

ive been using scotch brite gotta get the wool tmrw, and dang you really managed to get that clean
am I supposed to get the bluing off?

Scotch Brite is too abrasive and you'll never get the scratches out just using that. And you have to get it all off and color the pipe again with heat

using that really light duty blue scotch brite, can see scratches but they are very light, used wd40 as lubricant's, lol I bet getting this all off with he wool will be a challenge

Get a grinder with a wire wheel.. 5 minutes or less of work. If you go that route where safety glasses as the wires fly off like missles and can make you blind if it sticks in your eye

@PortCityRC i was curious too i was like uh i never seen blue scotch brite?
Will that not scratch the 💩 outta the pipe
