Ok, we've seen bad ass big blocks ripping parts off and I want to experience what I have only seen in videos and heard about in build threads. Kinda looking at a vesla but seems like you just need the name of it to order all the hop ups needed to hold up to the relentlessness of such a power house. Is there a better way to achieve this?
Please talk me out of this! Lol

Got my baja in 08, fell like I hit perfection with a esp high rpm ported 29.5. Everytime I raced it I was so far ahead nobody believes it was a 29.5 to the point they would almost pack up and leave when I would come out to meets. One time the track was over watered to avoid dust and before the laps where done of the race almost ever car was bogged out from the weight and a guy with a 4wd was complaining he couldn't keep up to me. I just don't want to mess with a success story so I'll just have to get another car, was tinkering with the idea of a hybrid and now the idea bulb just got brighter. +1 for hybrid

My vote is for Baja, I have a Baja with a 46gt and a race Baja with a stock 26. They are completely different and don’t even feel like the same platform. If your set in not getting a Baja go for the outlaw76E7D884-57DC-4E92-937F-8A8E7A5F2AE8.webp

Love the outlaw! The rtr is a bit pricey though, 88cc possibly over the top, but the roller might be just right, if I got another baja and put what it needs to survive a big block probably be close to the same price. How ever wouldn't get the chance to build, test, break, modify, repeat. That's half the fun...until it breaks and you have to wait for parts ... that's the worst part

I've used the ufc kit, and the outlaw kit. Fir and finish on both were the same as far as machining etc. The outlaw kit though was far better for motor fitment and everything aligning up. I fought almost every screw hole on the ufc kit, 5 holes I had to slot out to get alignment right on the engine side. Everything else was good.

If the outlaw kit is able to use plastic arms, I'd go that route for sure. If not, I'd probably take my chances with the ufc kit again. My outlaw was nice, but all the alloy it was rattle and had no give anywhere. Definitely great for drag racing, but as a Basher I broke mine and seen many others break theirs and it gets pricey

Yes that’s cool.

Big bore baja.

But? I have a 71 in a McD w5. That’s super fun.

I have a 55 in a Losi. Again super fun.

A Vesla handles big power easily too. But their plastics are so delicate.

I wouldn't say big power yet, have yet to see a 71,88, 85, etc in one. From what I have seen middle class cc bigbores are shredding the spider gears which are out. After that, I'm curious to see if the cups and dogbones hold up

Tom Jones ran a 71 supreme on his xr5 off-road and was a beast. He had his share of axles that died. Never heard of mcd spider gears being damaged.

Really appreciate all the input but it seems to have a opposite effect that I wasn't expecting. These are the factors that run threw my head the past couple days...
I love my baja and want to keep the way it is.
Since I started rc I tried to limit myself to only one of each model, but did allow myself electric and nitro of the same.
Never put every mod available just cause it was available, only if it broke without driver error, so the outlaw starting to bother me cause it won't break and the metal arms may end up putting stress and bending other stuff if and when driver error occurs.
So I put a vesla big bore roller, 50gt v2 with pipe and bullet head in my cart at Taylor and sent an email asking for suggestion on the blackbone gears and what else the vesla needs to have a chance to survive the torment of the power.
Please don't take this as a disregard to any advice as I ended up going with what I didn't want at the beginning of this thread. Feel free to blast me with your comments or advice ant time or in any thread. I listen to everything and it all gets factored into my thinking

Wow! That was fast, already got a reply from Mike Taylor! He said 25/51 for the 50, then suggested transmission housing, center brace, and strongly recommended shock stop kit. Not to bad, just got a vekta from ddm and even with a ported 34cc his recommended parts for that was more and I even added more myself from what I saw on forums. The vesla still worries me a bit cause from what I've seen on forums made me start this thread.
I guess I like to break, repair, modify and have enough cars to keep me busy if I need to wait for parts or ideas. Feel free to share your thoughts, ideas, experiences as I am still going to simmer for the weekend at least before smashing the order button. Going to try Taylor for this build even though I got my lhs to become a ddm dealer, then after started to order direct myself so that things I wanted didn't mysteriously become back order???
And got them faster!
Looking forward to anybody's comments as sharing RC is almost as fun as RC

Great to hear that, worked my ass off and deprived myself of many luxuries for the past 30 years, just sold my house I had for 20 years to move in my parents place to help them stay in it as they are both declining in health rapidly. It's a 104 acre, old farm that hasn't been farmed for 40 years at least, I bush hog what's left of the open fields as it's about 80% bush now. So a big huge rc track spot is already planned and I've got tractors with loaders to do it. I love rc more and more that I do it and don't have a girlfriend or kids to take care of, so If there's a weak spot that I can find on any rc I plan on fixing it and showing off breaking it and the fix.
Trying to come up with a persona for u tube to make funny and informative rc videos, did a bunch over a decade ago but I did no editing or talking so I got bored of it
