I finally got my back ordered OBR aluminum intake for my 32cc Zen. Here is a visual comparison between it and the DDM version...

What comes in the package. DDM left, OBR on right.20240721_083312~2.jpg
As described by others, the DDM piece has soft insulators that are also supposed to act as gaskets I assume.

The OBR has a nice metal gasket for the engine side, like a muffler or tuned pipe header would have, a hard insulator with traditional gaskets for both sides on the carb side. Longer bolts are not included.

The DDM unit had a much better look to it as far as the finish quality.

The ddm isn't bad, so long as you toss those stupid delrin spacers in the trash and make/use gaskets. I had one on my g-320 in the dbxl and never had issues after ditching those spacers and going my own route. Obr just has better execution even if finish isn't as nice.
I'm definitely putting the OBR unit on it. The finish doesn't bother me, just an observation. As long as it seals I'm good.

It almost looks like the ddm unit was bead blasted or something. After machining.

You could lap the obr intake on some 1000 grit sand paper if need be
I could, but, its oddly smooth despite its looks. I hope to get it installed this week but with all these trees down from a big storm we had a few weeks back, saws and the Kubota are what I'm running mostly. Probably 30-40 trees across 20 acres.

Im happy there's nothing big enough to reach us. Probably won't be for many years.
Glad you have no damage. Buried trees make good bases for RC jumps...just sayin.
We are going to try and sell it by the truck load as cut, green hardwood. Its all maple, oak and cherry.

This is a drop in bucket compared to what we will end up with.

Reason we cleared out around the house when we bought it. Only issue trees we have now are on the neighbors property. He'll die eventually and his wife will let me take them down.
These vids show, maybe 30% of the damage. Our property is 1320 ft deep and 660 ft wide. Approximately 50% is wooded from the road to the back property line.

This was minutes after. That squish sound is the ground from all the rain.

Biggest tree we had. There's another behind it that is nearly as big.
