Is it worth the buy?

I have losi 5t 1.0 that I’m thinking of buying form a guy the only noticeable upgrades I can see is a OBR 38cc widowmaker with a bartolone exhaust looks like shocks,diffs, and probably a top end rebuild he’s asking 800$ should I grab it or should I stay away from this one thanks!
 
I look at a long list of factors when buying anything used but that is another thread.

Being in Brawley which is sandy and a lot of Powdered dirt i would question the motor since it has a stock air filter. If a compression test can be performed then i would consider it.

Obviously not run i a while so the at minimum the tank would need to be cleaned, new filter and the carb blown apart for a good cleaning.

There is a Kraken in the background so he is no stranger to spending $$ on RC's

His other ads have a HPI Baja 5B and a Kraton 8S with similar "Condition"

A brand new 5T clone aka 30deg North is $1300

In the end is it worth $800? Depends on what you want to do with it. Will need some TLC in my opinion. If you guess the motor is 50% worn out id say it's an OK buy but i haven't seen it or talked to the seller so there is that.
 
OK, thank you I appreciate the advice. I did notice. It was a stock air filter on the vehicle. I was a little concerned with that myself I will bring a compression tester to see if the compression is good on the motor and if everything looks good I think I’ll pull the trigger I’ve bought a losi dbxl from him before with a 30.5 obr and that turned out ok so we’ll see

Yup that’s usually the first thing I change out. I start with bearings, change all the diff fluids and rebuild the shocks whenever I buy something used but will do thanks

Is that obr 38cc widow maker any good? Should I have him take it out and buy it as a roller this will be my first 5t platform so I want to do it justice
