Taylor Pipe (or other pipe with curved header) is needed when using a small bore motor with Vesla Big Bore Transmission.

I bought the "big bore" transmission to avoid the stock transmission issues. I mocked my ESP34cc engine up and the exhaust port is resting on the top of the transmission. I just cannot get a win with this Vesla. Can you seriously not use a "small bore" engine with this transmission?

What the F? That doesn't seem right but if it is i will be going electric without question as a Big Bore motor is more than i need and way too much $$.

Gahh! That sucks, it looks like you need a header that kicks up a bit, then the pipe would have to somehow connect to that. There has to be a pipe specific to this application.
I got the VRC pipe that is for the Vesla. If I want to use this engine I will have to take everything back apart and use the standard HD transmission with hardened gears and hope it holds up.... I wasted so much money getting the "big bore" transmission and new Idler gear. I am beyond disappointed. I'm about to just sell this as a big bore roller and buy a 5t when they are available.

I feel for you, that is very frustrating. There has to be someone on here that can answer your questions.

Same boat now. The HD trans didn't hold up on Crucial RC Vesla so for me that is not a route. On the Kraken Site nowhere in the description doe sit say for Big Bore motors only or Does Not fit Small blocks. I get the name bu that is not and excuse. The "Massive Idler gear" is what is making that area too big. I would send a message to Kraken for some incite. They have been very helpful to me so far.

A bit of an over sight maybe but you do realize that a big bore exhaust port sits much higher than the small blocks right?
I've never owned a big bore motor. I just think it would have been a great courtesy if they would have listed on their site that it would not work with a standard engine.
At this point I have 2 options...
1. convert back to electric and waste even more money to get 2x6s batteries
2. Remove the big bore transmission and install the HD transmission with hardened gears and hope it holds up.

Yeah, I've sent them several emails already to resolve issues... my kit came with wrong and mis-machined driveshafts, unusable decals...
So did you send them an email on this? If you don't mind i will post this on their Fakebook page and see what responses from kraken and possible customers have.

If you have the HD Transmission and Hardened Trans gears i would get the Taylor Idler gear and run this snot out of it. Most every transmission blown i have seen has been due to the Idler. Taylor made their own and Kraken made their own but obviously to big so the trans area where the idler is makes the BB trans a BB only trans.

Go for it. I think I will order the Taylor idler gear. I don't mind spending money on good upgrades, but that big bore and new Idler wasn't cheep... and it's going to be a paperweight for me.

I did send Kraken an email. I'm sure they will message back as soon as they can.

Will do and keep everyone informed.

The Taylor Idler is the best bet with what you have. I should have gone with Taylor Trans and Idler. Too far into it so live and learn.

Mike, Quinn and even Rob have been very responsive and detailed in their responses to me. Look forward to what they say.

Yeah, I have a lot of respect for their customer service... they have responded and fixed several issues I had with my vekta and vesla builds.

I got a response from Kraken. Taylor RC makes a pipe that has a curved header... I wish this information was listed on the website...

To add to the above...

This was added to the Kraken website a little while ago.

IMPORTANT: For your exhaust pipe to clear the transmission case for smaller bore engines, you’d need a curved-up exhaust header like the ones Taylor RC offers. Contact your engine manufacturer or get a small bore pipe from them - https://tinyurl.com/ftxkrnjb

Thank you for your help with that. I edited the title to reflect the new information.
