Hi guys,

looking at getting a new engine for the 5T, but not too sure which, i was looking at the OBR 35 Magnum that they've just released (I have the Taylor V2 reed in my dibby atm and im not impressed with its performance!)

Anyone have any info regarding the OBR 46/47 Full mod, would this be a big improvement over the 35 reed Magnum they have just released?

Any info much appreciated! cheers :)

Wait a bit until the new OBR big bore is out .
Oh didnt realise they bringing a new one out, any more info buddy? But to be honest, i don't want anything thats overkill! Ive seen some of these monster engines at bashfest in uk, (Taylors) as impressive as they are they just seem way too much power for me! So i want to keep it to around 46cc as to what ive seen that seems the sweet spot for power/handling and of course, price etc!

I only get told little bits of info , I talk to most the other manufactures but I’m not exactly a rep so, I can’t say much else other than one is coming,

The new OBR is supposed to be a 50. Unless your Taylor 35 is ported, The 35.7 Magnum which has an OBR signature series port job should be way more powerful, not to mention, when ordering the engine you can have them tweek the the engine for more torque or rpm. There's a video about it on the 35.7 thread. Almost everyone in our group runs OBR because their shop is about 15 min from us.

They have been saying this for 4 years. I do believe one is coming, but don't wait for the unknown. A Taylor or alx bigbore is the only way to go if your wanting a true bigbore
Well it took me 4 years to make a product but point taken. I don’t mess with big bores.

How ?
There is not enough room in the cylinder casting to flow out the ports as much as the Taylor cylinder .
So how do they produce way more power ?

How much more powerfull is "way more"? and how is this possible with smaller more restrictive ports ?
Really interested to find out how this is done as it goes against everything I understand of fluid dynamics.

I believe they are using their own, USA made cylinder, not a Zenoah g320 cylinder. Turtle racing is producing the cylinder if I recall.

Which leads me back to my original question . How do they make "way more " power with potentially inferior gas and port paths over the cad designed Taylor 35 V2?
If that was the case then Yamaha,Honda and Suzuki would never have bothered to develop new cylinders in two stroke racing.

So where are all these other vids he references? They haven't had a youtube upload in 3 years until 11 days ago. Probably on bookface, which I'm not on.

I can't answer that. I haven't even seen a Taylor inside. Heck, in person at all. Lol. I only have some experience porting chainsaws.

Eh ? Who?
I was just respording to the quote , where the OBR 35.7 magnum makes way more power then the Taylor 35v2 .
I just wanted to know how or indeed if it does , as I cannot see how they can with less smoothe port path .
Just interested to know is all.

In that video from OBR on the new magnum engine he references the other vids about said engine yet there are none on YouTube. Sorry for the cornfusion. Lol

From what I see , they cast a cylinder but it probably didn't give the results they were looking for , or cost too much or something .
Just wouldn't want to sell my new Taylor 35V2 and buy an OBR instead and find out it makes less power.

That would be a bummer for sure.
