Hey all, I just picked up a DBXL with the Dynamite 23cc and some kind of 5b for a pretty good deal. I'm a paved oval racer, and can never leave anything stock. So I'm already considering modifying the DBXL, with next to no interest in the 5b... that one just came for the ride. But yeah, I've got NO experience with 2-stroke rc cars. Lots with electric, though. I'm used to 20lb 100-150mph cars, and don't want to be bored with this thing right off the bat. I definitely understand the DB will never get anywhere near that, I just want to make it spicy.
Soo, the DBXL has the cy22 engine, and I've been on DDM looking at mods for it (air filter, tuned pipe, 990 carb, 29cc big bore kit, velocity stack, 8k clutch, stuffed crank and killswitch) however, most of these are labeled compatible with cy23. I can't seem to find the difference between cy22 and cy23, if there is any? Help would be appreciated there.
Or would I be better off just throwing another motor at it all together? My budget for mods/motor on this thing is ~3-500bux, give or take. And it LOOKS like I can build up the 23cc decently within that price range. Pretty much just gonna be bashing/ trailering my track cars from the truck to my pit area, but I also want to spank on my buddy with a 5t.
I've also got the 30.5cc engine from the 5b, would that bolt up and have benefit if it did?

Excuse me if my questions or build ideas sound naive, learning as I go. Any input is appreciated!

Also, if there are any necessary mods/upgrades for the DBXL platform, feel free to shout em out!

It's not that I'm not interested in the 5b.. I've just been set on a 5t for a while. Got the package deal to resell the 5b and get a free dbxl. Planning to take that cash and put it towards grabbing a used 5t that I can mod to the gills. I'm assuming you're a fan of the 320?

I don’t have anything with a zenoah, I’m just trying to point you to a quality built engine.
I have a 30degree truck. Check out my struggles with a Chinese clone engine. I love it now, that I have some experience under my belt with tuning, flooding, leaking gaskets, failing killswitch.
Plenty will chomp at the bit to buy the 5b. Get yourself a truck if that’s what you want. We’re here to help

I appreciate ya! Looks like the zanoah is a 4bolt, while the dbxl is a 2 bolt. I found a decent deal on a g320. I'll read, and if it's just a matter of drilling out 2 holes, I'll scoop it up

I don’t know if it’s about drilling holes. Email DDM and ask about it, they will give you solid advice.
I read on em, 2 or 4 bolt is referring to head bolts, not mounting as I thought. I'll give DDM a message anyways, I've got tons of stuff to buy from them on Monday.

I'd still like to hear about this little 23cc🤣

2 bolt cases blow base gaskets and warp. 4 bolt is far superior and if you pump money into that 2 bolt your gunna be doing it for experimental purposes. The 23cc is gunna be a disappointment, put the money into the 32cc
Thanks for the heads up there! Going with the g320 this evening when I'm home and shopping
