Wheel hub extensions... has anyone messed around with extended wheel hubs on the 5T platform? Obviously prob not a good idea if racing on a typical track but what about just bashing or off roading? Looking for feedback and handling info... is it worth it? Tell me what ya think.

Hey all, new to the thread here, I recently bought a new Rovan 360LT 4wh (don't pound on me please). Obviously this is a clone of the 5T but I couldn't find a 5T and have started working on some upgrades. A little back story on my RC experience so those of you that have a similar history can give real constructive support if you choose.
-35 plus years of RC aircraft and vehicles. Large scale warbirds and 3D Air, 3D Heli, RC touring, buggy, on road, carpet cars, and off road as well as the early 1:5 HARM gas touring cars...as well as a lot of Kart racing and MX for my kids.
So I'm just looking for some technical info from those of you that have vast experience in the 1:5 gas
It obviously came with a Rovan 36cc which fires right up and runs well as of now. However, I'm at altitude in CO (6K ft) and we loose about 15% power due to the alt always. I've completed a full tank of break-in with Klotz however will be running Amsoil Dom here on out. So, I just purchased a TaylorRC 35 reed engine (tonight ) to just get it over with haha and I'm trying to make sure everything I order works with the Rovan LT stock diff and install for now or???. I will make changes if needed. Additionally, I'm looking for info on the different clutch bell housings/pinion gears/spur gears, options and compatibility. I don't have a 5th scale track to run/race on (in this entire state full of land) so I just want a powerful truck to rip around on some MX tracks and vacant lots.
Sorry for the long intro but really want some solid input for set up and compatability. All opinions welcome. Thanks!

Here's were I'm at.... The front toe looks extreme in the cell phone pics. Its not at all as bad as it looks....

Vinyl wraps for the 3DN body's...

Does anyone have a very positive experience with a custom vinyl wrap company?
To be clear, I want a wrap/decal kit that will actually bond well to the 3DM flex body. I have watched all of Jerad from DS's videos on prep and I'm aware of the surface issues with wraps and decals on a micro pores surface . I have a vinyl cutter and have been doing single color cut logos and graphics for quite some time however I want to source out a custom decal/wrap kit with a solid company that uses the correct adhesive backed material to actually bond to the correctly prepped surface of the 3DN body.

Dark Side has some great looking kits that can be customized to some extent. They seem to be busy currently however I'm waiting on a reply.

I ordered a nice looking 3DN cut Red Bull Kit on ebay and the adhesive quality is horrible to say the least for this surface. Even with multiple surface prep attempts with the correct industry products.
Just looking for a supplier that has it figured out. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

The below pics are from the supplier I purchased my kit from on ebay. Not mentioning the seller publicly...
Basherskinz is amazing quality. I had them develop custom graphics to mimic the BMW M2 race car and it turned out great. The vinyl is easy to work with and sticks very well to the body.IMG_0753.webp

For bashing and off-roading I think they work well. They make the truck super stable. Less chance of roll-overs. I didn’t notice any detriment to steering.

Ok, thanks for that info. The BMW scheme looks awesome. What size extensions are on that?

Hey, thanks for sharing the pics. So I see its a 3DN center diff/clutch/bell/pinon housing/mount. Is that a 2 speed or? Also curious what's required to change out the pinion gear/gears. Is it a full removal or?

Thanks. Those are the Taylor extensions. They are about 20mm per side. Pretty significant. I have since removed them because the Proline Badlands make the truck so wide with the extensions that I can't fit it in my car! LOL! (BMW M2 with one rear seat down, truck through seat opening, one child in the other rear seat, one child in the front seat! 🤣)

Well I guess with that fully enclosed transmission you don't have to worry too much about the mesh going out of whack when the chassis flexes! But I'm guessing your gearing choices are a bit more limited.

Well, I found another small difference between the Rovan Lt and the Losi 5T...
The fuel tank cap threading. Although the caps look almost identical the threading on the tank neck and cap is slightly different.
Only discovered this when switching out the cap for a DDM cap with vent. Fortunately I had a Losi tank and sure as sh!t, they are slightly different. The losi tank threads are a bit more crisp vs the LT. Prob not a big deal for most but Thought it was funny that I did a tank swap just for a new cap! :ROFLMAO:
Basically the new cap would not properly thread onto the LT tank but fit the Losi tank perfect.

Well darn. I'm glad you mentioned this. I would like to get a better gas cap but I have a 30 Degree North tank. I wonder if it has the same threads as the LT tank.

Well..for what it's worth, my losi 5tv1 cap fits the 30dn tank. I know its hard to tell in pic. Losi cap on right.

So, what's crazy is the Rovan tank/threads/opening looks like it would fit perfect with Losi, but once I started threading the cap on it gets super tight immediately. I almost screwed up the threads on the rovan tank. even after several attempts. Then put it on a FiveT losi tank and it spun on like butter. Then tried the Losi cap on the Rovan. Same thing, literally would have had to force it on...

On the bright side, both the Rovan and Losi tank mounts line up perfectly with the Rovan chassis. Rovan uses a pointed course thread screw while Losi has fine threaded machine screws for the tank mounts. Both screw types work with either tank/mounts

Yea..I just been playing musical gas caps and the only diffrent one is the Rovan. The 5t, 30dn and hpi baja all seem to be the same.

Stayed up late last night working of some body graphics. Gonna go with Jared at Darkside. I did some overlay mockups on the body side with some logos I want on the truck. I have a lot of logos in my system and create or convert from images. This is just a Jpeg rendering so might not be as crisp as what I look at when working on it. The base scheme is one of his new releases and I am laying out the logos I want. I still need the top side image to work with.
I will be getting rid of the race numbers and name. As well as other sample logos shown in the Stock image pic.

Here's where its at so far:
